I ordered a Lake Country backing plate and 4 pads for my PC...
I just finished prpping my car for it's first polish, and I realize the backing plate mount is WAY larger, and female thread, and my PC is way smaller, and also female thread!!!!
How am I going to attach it!?!
PLEASE HELP ME!!!
:(

Hopefully at Canadian Tire?
I bought this kit from eShine.ca (pads and plate)...yup, it's for a rotary. I can't believe it! A newbie like me, and they don't even warn of the different adapter plates, or specify which tool to use with the kit?
I paid good money for that kit!

None that I know of. You could try your local Paint and Body supply store. They may carry a backing plate you could buy right away. Or maybe NAPA.

I looked on e-shine's site and they do actually state the 7.5 is for rotary use and the 6.5 is for DA polishers. Of course, this doesn't help you now.
Still, call around and you may find someplace that sells the plates locally. I checked CT's site and they list only the rotary plate as well.

I don't think they would intentionaly sell you the incorrect BP. Your placing the order they assume you know what you need unless your more specific.Maybe lowes has a BP that you can use with your PC . Find a place in your area that sells contractor equipment.

like joe said they assume you know what your doing, chris ia great guy but he cant read minds lol (although hes woring on it) im sure if u talkt o him he'll help you out.

Oops..I almost forgot...
On eShine.ca, I scrolled down the buffer/pad section, and without obviously reading close enough, I stopped at the 4-pad/BP combo, because I wanted 4 pads...
Of course, if you scroll down farther, the DA pad combo is there, bit with 3 pads...
This is how I stupidly overlooked the items :(
I'm an idiot! (And I didn't mean to imply eShine was responsible in any way...sorry)

Well, I went to Canadian tire, and grabbed a sanding backing plate (for DA's), and some 'industrial grip' velcro strips, and made my own hook'n'loop backing plate...and it works!
But I have another issue...and that is 7.5" pads on the DA

I would not use that "home made" plate if I were you. The thing can very easily come apart and do some serious damage to your paint. It's not worth the risk.

Sounds like you are from Canada. Check out a body shop supply store. You can find the Meguiars backing plate for the DA if you need it right away and can't wait for an order to arrive in the mail. I have one and it works well.

I did the same thing when I first got my PC and the velcro strips are still holding great to this day. I've also noticed that with the softer velcro it takes a LOT longer for the backing plate to rip into the pad. I've got the Edge system for my rotary and I'm thinking about getting it for my PC in the future
