please help using Meg's MF pads

Looking good! A lot of people would be really nervous doing what you just did!

actually I'm surprised at that a bit here....I've wet sanded paint on boats and many cars, as long as you are staying away from any sheet metal creases or edges, you really can't "burn thru" when hand sanding with 3000....

Sanding is the easy part, pulling out the sanding marks is the hard problem.

Be careful, one thing I learned about wetsanding... it's not the first time that gets you. It's always when you go back for a 2nd round to try an get that extra little bit with a little rougher of a grade.

LOL...I now what you mean, but I move up in number, never down...the magical formula for my car is 2500 then to 3000.....

OK - here’s the update of the wet sanding to attack the orange peel. This is not something that shoots well with my iPhone cam, but trust me, the car looks 100% better with the orange peel reduced. It is still there to a minor degree, as I believe some is in the base, and I did not want to “go deep” to get rid of it.

After wetsanding with 2500/3000, here was the regimen:

polish out with foam/wool hybrid pad and menzerna FG400 on a flex rotary
fine polish with Menzerna 4500 and foam finishing pad on a griots orbital (wow, new one is much better than my 5 yr old one)
Wipe down with 50/50 ISP (alcohol/water)
Apply two coats of CarPro CQuartz UK
Wipe down with CarPro RELOAD

Overall, you have to be retired and like to do this - as I have about 24 labor hours in this makeover and several hundred $…

This is where the majority of the peel was...it now gives a more direct reflection:

and for those that wonder, at no time did I even get near "breaking thru the clear ", as all the edges were taped off and the 3000 was moderate in terms of sanding...
