Plastic trouble

Hey everybody, I recently tryed to remove some tar from my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I used Stoner's " Tarminator". I mainly used it for the plastic on the under side of the truck where the rocker panels are located. I got some of the tar off but not all, and it left a dull spot on the plastic like sort of what would happen if you used laquer thinner on plastic. Is there anyway I could could bring back the original shine to the plastic? Or am I looking at ordering a whole new plastic rocker panel?

Was there a protectant on the plastic at the time? Maybe you removed the protectant when you applied the Tarminator, which in turn removed some of the shine of the plastic. I'd apply some protectant (PB's Trim Restorer would be my choice) to the area after the tar is gone. You could also try APC/water to remove the tar instead. Maybe your trim is a little sensitive to tar removing chemicals.

Believe me when I tell you that the bottom of the truck looked like a tar pit as well as the inside fender well. I still havent removed all of it. It was my mother in law's truck and she basically just used to get in the truck and go. I don't know if you know how Jeep Grand Cherokees are set up, but on the bottom if the truck is not a limited, they come with a plastic that is not the same color as the rest of the paint on the body. The color of the plastic is dark grey. Now there are parts of the plastic where I rubbed hard that are very dull. Thanks for the advice, I will try (pb)
