Places to eat / see around Dallas, TX

Will be traveling to Dallas in a few weeks for some classes, and wondering if anyone has any recommendations on places that I have to visit and or eat at for the few nights (3) that I'll be there? I'll be staying in between the Addison and Dallas Love Field airports, so maybe a 30 minutes drive from that location in any direction....

Ton of restaurants in Addison, you have to do the stadium tour even if you aren't a Cowboy's fan. The Ballpark in Arlington is a half mile from the stadium so you can do the tour during the day and watch a ball game that evening.

Never thought of the Cowboys stadium, that would have been cool, but my only time to see places will be between 6-10 pm.

so no, 'you must eat here' kind of places?

Hopefully you haven't already visited and left. I used to live in the Addison area and while there are tons of restaurants, I didn't find any of them that great. The Flying Saucer on Montfort and Beltline is great if you like craft beer. My recommendations would be (and a short drive to get there):

Lockhart Smokehouse in Oak Cliff. Great BBQ, I recommend the fatty brisket. Dallas BBQ Restaurant, Best BBQ Dallas, Texas | Lockhart Smokehouse

Maple and Motor - great burgers, was on Diners Drive in and Dives. Maple & Motor - Oak Lawn - Dallas, TX

Il Cane Rosso - Also on DDD (because they're just that damn good) - Neapolitan style pizza and other Italian food. Really good stuff and in a neat part of town called Deep Ellum Cane Rosso

And I personally love Kuby's Sausage House near SMU. Kuby's Sausage House It's been there forever, they have great German food and a meal is really inexpensive there. Now, it was on Man v. Food.

I guess everywhere I mentioned has been on a TV show but no matter, they are really good. Enjoy your time here.

Arlington has several great burger places, Tom's on I 30 and Cooper, Chop House Burgers (on Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives) at Park Row and Fielder, Twisted Root (also on Triple D) on Abrams near Center Street, Al's Hamburgers at Collins and NE Green Oaks (great 50s style burgers) and Texas Burgers and Wings at Brown and Ascension. For BBQ, there is Colters-even though it is a chain, the brisket is terrific. We've been going to the one on Collins and Road to Six Flags since the early 90s. There is also Bodacious BBQ on Division east of Collins but it is mostly only open at lunch time. Homestyle Italian at Nino's off Forestwood and NE Green Oaks. Nizza Pizza has great NY style pizza (and the guys are actually transplants from the area) at Cooper and Park Row. Cheap eats, can't beat No Frills Grill on Eastchase just south of I 30 in Fort Worth. Great sports bar, two people, meals, appetizer and tip tops out around $30.

Tongs House in Richardson on Coit north of Beltline used to have terrific Chinese food, been eating there since the early 80s. My parents say the original owners sold it a while back and the food isn't as good as it was, but I haven't been able to get by to check it out myself. Caravelle on Greenville north of Arapaho is terrific for Chinese food. Lots of mom and pop Pho places too, can't go wrong with huge bowls of noodle soup for $5-7.

Great steak houses here, Bob's Steakhouse (aka Bob's Steak and Chop House) on 4300 Lemmon Avenue is generally regarded as best or at least top 3 in the area.

Thanks guys! arrive Sunday night and hopefully get to eat at least a couple of these places. Going with a workmate, so hopefully he can tag along for the cuisine.

Just an update. Loved Dallas, but my regret is that class took a lot out of me, and the fact is was 105 degrees and extremely hazy out, I did not get to site-see nearly enough, but I would definitely plan to go again.

As for eats, Sunday we got in and by the time we were settled and rested, all we did was find somewhere close, so I have to admit we did a chain (champps) but I will say, the walnut encrusted chicken was excellent. Following night, I wanted to get downtown to eat, so we decided on Primo's Tex-Mex. Very good fajitas. Next night after that, we discovered on the way to the class we were taking there was a fogo de chao. I have been to a few of these, but my travel mate had not, so I was not one to ever pass up initiating someone to fogo! Then for the last night, we were all set to try out Hard 8 bbq, but we had Marshalls bbq for lunch in class, so we were full and bbq'ed out.

Thanks again for the recommendations, and hopefully I can try them on some future visit.
