Pitted hood...wet sand?

My ride has 240,000Km on 'er now...and the hood is showing every Km of it! Lots of white 'pits' from stones, etc...

I'm wondering about a LIGHT, 1500/2000 grit wet sand to see if I can correct some of this damage? Followed up with a full PC polish...

Opinions?

Before wet sanding I would touch-up the stone chips and then do a light color sand.
Worst thing that can happen is you will need to repaint the hood and it sounds like it needs that already so nothing to louse by trying.

i'd say this would be your best option ..otherwise don't waste your time, pits don't come out
