The Guz
Mike
Last year I was the lucky winner of this giveaway. The prize was a bottle of the improved formula Wolfgang Leather Conditioner, which great by the way and a bottle of the new formula Pinnacle Black Onyx.
I have used this on a couple family members daily drivers but always with one coat. With one coat it just made the tires look black and durability just seemed ok. I ended up shelving it as I was using a tire coating on my personal car (which is a daily driver) and I wanted a little more sheen. Nothing overly glossy.
Well I have since gotten new wheels and tires on my car and the other day I wanted to try something new as the previous go to tire gel (Meguiar's D163) had seen it's end of life. FYI these tires were being finicky when I got them. They would not take any tire coating after many cleanings. So I went with a tire gel until they started to behave. This way I was not wasting the tire coating.
I gave the tires a good cleaning with Meguiar's D143 and I saw the bottle of Pinnacle Black Onyx and said what the heck I'll use that. I was going to initially apply one coat but I went with two as I wanted a little more gloss. The directions on the bottle state to add another coat to add more gloss.
Well here are the results.
In low light the tires look black
Here is how it looks as the sun was setting.
Ignore the clear coat failure on the rear bumper lol. It's typical for this style car. I'm in the process of getting some things resprayed on this car.
I was impressed with the look of 2 coats. The tire gel is a not as thick as Meguiar's D163 tire & trim gel. It's pink in color. It spread out nicely. It did not sling. Glad I gave this a second chance. I can't comment on durability just yet but after a 4 days it looks like it's holding up very well.
