Pinnacle Black Label Paint Sealant

Detailed the daily driver yesterday and today.

I needed to decompress after the work week so I started with a Super Slick and Suds foam bath yesterday afternoon.

Ended up deciding I had to try out the newest addition to my Black Label Collection

Ended up putting some bdx on the paint but the hood and passenger sides didn`t even bleed so I just washed those areas again and dried.

Did an optimum paint prep wipedown. Checked hood beading and it took three wipedowns to take off the fk1000p on the hood (applied a month ago)

Went with essence via crimson hydrotech pad on hood, roof, drivers side and tailgate.
Passenger side got black label surface cleansing polish via different clean crimson pad

I wanted to give my elbows a rest so i decided to try the 2 inch black flex pads i ordered for my nano at applying the black label paint sealant

Nice little shoulder workout instead, haha.

Wiped off effortlessly after 20 minutes with my trusty DMTs.

I like the look. Really brings the metallic out.

dog even approved.

Rain was coming so I swapped my car back into the garage but took a few pics first. (This is the black label only side-no essence except for hood shot)

It rained overnight and when I cam out at 1030 the truck just had a little bit of water on the roof and hood, that was it. Not even any noticeable water spots from the rain running down the sides.

I wiped ot down with a PFM and a litte bit of Spray and Wipe.

Did the tires with Bold n Bright and Carrand tire brush (killer combo btw)
Bold n bright on running boards

Tried 50/50 bold n bright on fenders that I had cleaned the day before with apc foam and a brush.

Tried it 100% on drivers fender. I think I need to make a ~70-85% bnb to water mix.
My rear wells don`t have plastic parts so I couldn`t do much there.

Fronts turned out ok. Gotta figure out some other application method besides a mf towel and my hand. Need to grab more foam paint brushes and try to attach a mf to something on a stick.

Truck looks good though.

You had better luck than I did yesterday; while I was polishing the hood with Essence, (which is outstanding), windgusts blew debris all over my work area non-stop while sweat from my forehead was mixing with the polish.

Thanks for posting. How do you like the PBL sealant compared to your favorite(s)?

You`re really making me miss my Frontier! Was the same color too! That thing looks very slick; our Camry is in the same color family I might have to get a bottle to try it. Nice work and nice truck!

I know what you are talking about sweat dripping onto the car. I use a rolled up bandana as a sweatband for my head. Something I picked up from my tennis playing days. South Georgia heat and humidity is unforgiving.

That sucks! I really like this product. It says up to a year durability. I think there have been a few people get 6+months IIRC. I am not sure if it needs much of a cure time being a resin based paint sealant.
I`m curious how they got this to look just like their paint coating. It`s super slick. Paint hasn`t looked this good in person since i had PBL v1 + Synergy a few years ago.

I want to top it with Synergy today but I`m feeling lazy.

Thanks. I love my Frontier. That friggin yokohama tire though..dang. Looks bad and it`s a pita to dress (has ridges and they are not only angled across they also curve, lol.

I might have to make that my spare and get 4 new tires with better sidewalls. I like flat smooth ones.

I use those towels you dip in cold water during the summer. I forget what they are called. Works well for me.

Looks great. But I think you`re going to be disappointed in how long it lasts. I loved the stuff and it was easy to use, but for me it did not last more than a month and a half. Very disappointed

512, I`ve got a Pinnacle coating that I`ve used for a while. Not sure if it`s the same version you have. I`ve had good luck with the product...no fuss, no issues. And I love a coating that comes in a spray bottle !

I look forward to putting your concern to rest. :)
If I`m wrong, I will flame my favorite pbmg house brand myself, but I seriously doubt so.

I even have the pbl only side for durability testing alone. And essence side for compatibility testing.

I`m going to figure out myself what plays well with essence. So far my other test is working well.

If its the 4 oz bottle and doesnt have a v2 sticker on it its their 1st version.

I used it with great success.

26 months on my daily driver truck then the beading go too "meh" for me and i had to experiment more...but i still have no iron on my paint after over 3 years, lol

Nice.

Curious how long this sealant lasts.

Give up on regular dressings for wheels wells. There is no good way to apply them without making a mess or spending a lot of time and dirtying a lot of tools and your hands.

Instead, get an aerosol dressing like Megs D4510. Sprays like hair spray and you can do all 4 wheel wells in like 2 mins. No drips, no mess, no grease, no clean up, and dries nice.

Sounds like this is a winner.

Interested in the long term as well as some beading pics.
Just a quick water spray on the freshly cleaned passenger door (pbl only). Nothing spectacular, even in the rain it doesnt bead as wonderfully as synergy but more like year old pbl v1..sheets very well though..nice full beads but they are larger than say the fk1000p beads i witnessed. The main reason i put this on my truck was to test the durability because id like to use this as a premuim upsale sealant if able to trust its longevity.

I will get more pics when it rains today. Cleaned the hood for that reason in fact.

The stuff went on super easy and was extremely slick and glossy. The only problem I have with it was the durability. It just did not last. The beading was not great at all. I wish it would have lasted cause the ease of use was amazing.

I have been really disappointed in the beading of this product.

I know beading isn`t everything; however, I believe beading and sheeting are correlated in relation to high surface tension.

Maybe I`m wrong but I see a nice tight bead as a product providing a high surface tension. Tension so much as to cause the water droplet to essentially hover over the surface. The beads then gather together and gain weight to roll off the surface in sheeting.

Anyways, I digress...

Yesterday at work I hit a large water puddle that threw some nasty water all over my hood front windshield and roof. I only hit the wipers. I left the water to bake for 6 hours until I was home and did a mean green rw. (I didn`t mean to hit the water btw but figured I`d make the best of it.)

Well the glass came out fine but the hood stayed water spotted and I got out some Spray and wipe and got most out but I could still see some water marks.

I wasn`t happy...I reached for my Optimum Paint Prep and mf towel and made an attempt to 50/50 strip the hood of pbl paint sealant.

This not only removed it, but also the water spots as they had not penetrated the essence under it..unless I am mistaken and this removed the essence too but I seriously doubt it.

I then applied the mighty fk1000p graciously sent to me by a fellow autopian (thanks again!).
I finally used this recently and loved it.

So now I have a 50/50 with fk1000p and pbl paint sealant

Fk was also applied to a panel wiped passenger fender right next to the pbl only sealant doors. (So fk vs pbl sealant on side too with no essence at all)

It then rained over last night.

I took some pics that I will just let speak for themselves.

passenger side of hood -the pbl (that still has water spots btw)

drivers side fk1000p

for somewhat related reference, here are some 22 month old pbl v1 beads on the same truck (maintained with pbl products)
03e43e0f620627f6a1b0b4c4e7d38202.jpg
it wasnt until months 23-28in that I started adding things until I eventually polished what might have been left off)

I then drove to work. The fk side was beginning gather from tiny tight beads snd sheet right at 30mph. The pbl side took until the access road at 45+ to gather together and the fk side was virtually dry before I merged onto the interstate (55max) while the pbl sealant side took getting to 85 to clean off similarly.

Don`t get me wrong. I love Pinnacle Black Label paint, glass, wheel coating and synergy. The booster and detail spray and cleansing polish are great as well.

It looks really nice. It brings out flake, it has the pinnacle black label shine...but lacks the wow factor when exposed to the elements based off what I have seen on my truck in the past and even compared to the mighty fk1000p.

I think I will stick to the coating line.

I really didn`t intend for this thread to turn into a review but it happened.
Mods can feel free to move the thread if that is needed.

I think this pbl sealant has the pbl looks but lacks the pbl durability muscle...im going to keep it on there but only on smaller areas of my truck. I don`t like that the water spots didn`t just rw off.

I will keep updates as this progresses.

512 I could not agree with you anymore. It a shame because I really like the ease of use of the product, but it does not last and beading is terrible.

I know. I was totally wrong. Like I said, I did look forward to proving you wrong...well...lol

I will have to give it another try in a different test but now I am thinking more like `what do I have that will last Longer than this fancy expensive sealant` (perhaps even in a spray bottle)

the only good thing is it only cost me a little less than $30 instead of the normal price. but give me a moment and I will post my am rain shots from when I was once again rushing into work (being at work for an insurance job at 7am on a Saturday should be illegal somewhere I believe)
