Pinacle Souveran??

I just ordered a tub of it last night from Autogeek for $70 (its on sale, check it out) with an assortment of other things. I've never heard a bad review about Souveran and really wanted to see if it lives up to all the hype. Anyone have any bad experiences with it? Any specific tips as for application/removal/general use?



This may be better suited for the pro section, but: how much extra do you guys charge for a layer of an exotic wax like Souveran? I was thinking $20 would be fair.
 
Only problem is durability but i guess that is the same problem with all exotic waxes. This stuff is awesome on black. I even like it on white. It just adds something to the paint that wasnt there before.
 
out of all my waxes souveran is still one of my favorite waxes . even after a few hours the paint darkens even more !! just a deep glossy look . only down side is durability. but it only takes 15 min . to wax your whole car its not worth complaning about!
 
It looks great in various conditions. I can get more pop out of darks with other products, but its very balanced. FWIW, it was on sale for 2/$100 a few weeks ago.
 
As long as you realize it won't last long, I can't imagine you'll be disappointed. It's the easiest wax I've ever used. It makes dark cars absolutely gorgeous. And it even smells great!
 
It's a nice wax for the moment. Like stated it dosen't last long. (I don't even think a week on average) But it looks great, and it's real easy to work with.
 
It is the easiest paste wax I have ever used. It is indeed a very nice wax. For whatever reason however it didnt do nearly enough for me to stand out above what cheaper waxes like (collinite 915, pb natty's, even pinnacle ssII) to justify it's cost.

OTOH...I *do* let it dry completely.



I even let it set up for a few hours once just to experiment, and it buffed off easily. As per usual, the trick is to do a *THIN* application and hey, any excess is merely wasted anyhow.



I found I got somewhat improved durability by letting it set up before buffing.



I *would* still recommend using W-O-W-O on plastic trim/rubber though, as it generally makes for fewer unpleasant surprises.

If you want to try layering it, do a spit-shine, otherwise IMO you're just building up a (very) temporary concentration of oils, an example of what was once called "concours waxing" because it a) looks show-worthy and/but, b) only lasts a few days (long enough for a show weekend) before the look starts to drop off.
 
So it is good to top better endurance wax so when the beauty wears off my paint is still well protected? I was thinking NXT>Souveran or more durable carnauba>Souveran. The base coat of wax will not diminish the beauty of the Souveran will it.
 
I have only had 1 or 2 clients who requested "the best wax for black that you have" and after giving them the Souveran durability explanation still wanted it. I think I charged them an additional $10, though probably would just bake it into future detailing costs as I feel it cheapens the detail to charge for "extras". Makes it seem as if I am not always doing my best and making the paint look its best.

I did that the last time I waxed the Volvo wagon, and on the Jag I use Souveran over Autoglym SRP...so yeah, IMO it's a viable idea.



Using Souveran over something else *does* affect the look, but I wouldn't generalize it to the point of better/worse. You've just gotta try it and see what you think.



I'd spitshine if doing this, people have had Souveran mess with underlying Collinite, and that's some pretty tough stuff. I spitshined Souveran over 476S on the Volvo, using Griot's SpeedShine for the "spit".
