I washed, degreased the motor, did a basic interior (shampoo of the carpets will be tomorrow) and threw a quick coat of Zaino on her today. I didn't include pics of the really bad rusted area, but there's a pic that shows a small bit of rust. Actuall, the front shot has the bad rust in the pic, but it's at an angle that's hard to see it. . .check out those before and after pics of the motor! Huge difference!

Saw you over on Team Integra. When I saw "Zaino" I knew something was up and you weren't a newbie detailer.

Very nice work! Engine b4's and afters are great.

BTW: On your pics page, check the spelling on Integra. Probably just a typo, but giving you a heads up.

I kind of don't understand how a 1995 car can be rusting(especially a gsr for that matter). I thought they started galvanizing in 94?

Well, from the condition of the interior, the engine bay, and the body, it was obvious that the previous owner was more of a keep the car running clean than looking clean. Just one of those people who don't care about the exterior of their car. My GF and family are all like this. If I don't do the detailing on the car, noone washes them or anything.

Given that and the chicago winters (salt) and the mentioned laziness of the above people, you know they sure as hell won't clean the cars in the winter time either.

I'm not worried about it. Once this car is paid for (took out a 2 year loan and it'll be paid in less time than that) we're gonna take it to a body shop and get it fixed. Considering that we paid well under KBB for this car, it's actually gonna be worth fixing that major rust issues.

This weekend, I plan on using some white rustoleum rust stopper type spray for it.

Heheh, between you and Jngr you could start a "White GSR Club" here at Autopia. :D

Enjoy the ride and may she treat you well. :xyxthumbs

Great before and afters on the engine compartment! I thought the intake manifold was dark gray until I saw the after! :up

I recently brought back the paint on my '89 Accord. It was my Dad's from new before he passed. The paint was in terrible condition, but thanks to this web site, a PC and some products, it looks pretty good now!

Thanks,

I really like how that transformation happens, and it's very simple (hahah-used simply green-i made a funnay!)

anywho,

I've always loved GSR's in white, and i'm glad I found this one if white. . .white teg all the way baby!

congrats on the new ride david!...sorry to see you let go of the wrx...must have been hard...however, with your new found skills, you can make your new teg look brand new!...have fun and drive safely!

:xyxthumbs

Keep up the good work. There's nothing like a clean, white Integra!

thanks! I really like it. I'm doinga quasi 90K maint on her this weekend. Rotate tires, tranny fluid, turn rotors (if needed), bleed brakes, oil change and I'm gonna attempt at attacking the rust as best I can. . .and I'm gonna attack the interior again. . .

I assume that the Integra is the same as the Civic as far as the Timing Belt goes....Was yours done prior to you buying it? My 1992 Civic's Timing belt went out like clock work at 95k. While they were in there, they replaced the water pump too, for $45 extra as apposed to having to do all the labor again if the old pump ever went out.

yah,

I know about the security. I have an alarm that I won recently at a car shop. . .just gotta get around to getting it installed.

The car's timing belt was never changed, IIRC. It's got 88K on the clock now, so I have a few weeks until I'm gonna get desparate.

I'm gonna do a little modding while I'm in the car. . .paint the calipers black and I'm gonna attempt to paint the orange part of the tails red. . .I'll do a write up on it and post here and TI if it works. . .
