Picked up a new set of wheels for my Accord

I've been looking on craigslist for a nicer set of wheels. The OEM 7 spoke V6 wheels on the 7th gen Accords are a little drab looking to me. Really wanted to stick with 16" wheels, driving 25-30,000 mile a year, replacing tires at $100 each is a lot better than $150 each. Found a set of Acura RSX wheels for $250 including tires that were in similar shape to the ones I had. Rims were in pretty good shape, some minor scuffing on a couple, tires had good wear all across. Cleaned them with Power Clean and ONR, then polished them (including the barrels-which aren't ever going to come out perfect, did what I could) with Optimum Compound II and Polish II, washed them again with Power Clean and water, then Opti-Coated them. Also swapped out the Acura and Honda center caps, with the bottom of the Honda "H" facing the valve stems on all four wheels. We fancy now. ;)

Not a straight swap though, had to file down the caliper brackets a little to add some clearance-it was really tight! Might get some thin spacers to add a touch more clearance to be extra safe. What really surprised me was how light the wheels were. Got to be at least 2-3 pound lighter than the ones I had. Really noticeable difference between the two.

You do know that by taking off the Acura center caps you reduced your horsepower correct?

I'll make up for it with a huge wing and NOS and VTEC stickers. :lol

Ch96067-if you think my Accord is big, you should see the new ones.

Very nice. It is always nice to get a new set of wheels! I purchased a new set over the summer to replace my winter and summer wheels in hopes of eliminating having to switch out wheels twice a year. Anyway, I didn't want to spend a ton, and came across this website, which has some jammin' deals on wheels. The shipping was fast and the customer service was excellent (as they didn't ship all of my wheel lugs).

For example, Motometal rims MO951 are $197.00 on this site, and every other site as well as local retailers are selling for around $250.00. Combine that with 5 wheels (I always get the spare to match, is a savings of about $250.00.

Anyway, just an FYI if anyone is looking for a good price on name brand wheels, here is the website:

Sold the original wheels today, came out even!

Dealing with craigslist buyers sucks though. People call, want to see them, never call back. Or want to meet up immediately. Or just want to buy one wheel. Yeah, the other three will be so easy to sell then. But at least I was able to sell them within 5 days of first putting them up for sale.

Ahhhh, I love that! My pet peeve is misaligned center caps. :) The details matter!

The wheels look nice and sporty. Good choice.

Brad-when I get new tires, I will have them clocked so the valve stem is centered opposite the tire's brand name. :)
