"perfection" or I always want it better!

Good Day All,

Got a question or maybe lots of questions.

I have a 95 911 Porsche that I have stripped down and repainted, stem to stern, wet=sanded with 3m Trizact 1500 and 3000.

When I finally commit to a polish there are no swirls or sand scratches, only a partial flat polished look.

Now into polishing using the following:
Ist step: Meguiars 105 with a 3M wool pad: gives a fantastic "shine" with good depth.
2nd step: Meguiars 205 with a "black" foam pad, "shine seems to be a little less when done, even with a hand wipe w microfiber.
3rd step: Menzerna 85 Rd with a soft gold foam pad
4th 3M Final gaze, by hand.

So whats my issue, when I look at parts of the car that are only done on step 1 and compare them to what is finished, the finish looks a little less "sharp or bright" as what is done with just the 105.

Am I loosing something or what?

What brand/style of foam pads are you using? Can't tell exactly how aggressive they are based on color alone...

Also, are you using a rotary for all steps, or are you using a DA for some of it as well?

Lots of factors technique-wise that can affect your results as well.

On my show car I finish with 85 RD and a LC Gray pad on a PC I don't think it is possible to get it any better than that. :bigups

Thanks for the quick response,

Rotary with 105 1200 to 1800 RPM Wool Pad is a 3 M 05719
Lake Country Pads with All others
Anything by hand is with microfiber

that wool pad is fairly aggressive combination with 105, and using the grey LC pad may not be aggressive enough to really shine up the finish with 205.
