Pearl Glo

Stopped in Big Lots last week and was looking around and found a bottle of Pearl Glo. It's made by Kit and is acrylic based. That got me interested enough to buy a bottle. I applied it to the hood of my Miata which doesn't have very nice paint-lots of rids. It claims to fill but if it does it sure doesn't fill much. It streaks a bit but that may have just been because I didn't allow it to cure long enough before wiping it off. The acrylic sealant looks good but I applied the spray sealant which upped the gloss. This stuff has a very clear wet glossy look. After a few days I washed with NXT which isn't the mildest soap and was surprised at the immediate sheeting action. The gloss didn't immediately fall off like many products loaded with glossy oils.

Overall, I have to admit that for $2 a bottle this Kit product this is fairly impressive. As a 2 step system it will leave a high gloss shine but that shine may be too glossy for some-this definitely has a sealant look. The spray sealant may work well as a gloss enhancer over another product but the bottle does say that it contains isopropyl alcohol which depending on the percentage may somewhat degrade a previous application of a product. At $2 a bottle it's cheap enough to pick up just to play around with. The liquid sealant might also work well as a glaze under your favorite wax. The manufacturer makes no claims regarding UV protection on either product.

Kit doesn't have the product listed on it's website so I'm assuming that it is no longer being produced and it seems as if only some Big Lots stores have it on the shelf so supply may be severely limited or non existent in your area.

I saw this same thing at a Big Lots locally. I almost grabbed a bottle of it. Infinity has a pearl that is tough to bring out the color. I might just have to buy a bottle.

Big Lots also has Scotch Guard for the car for 4 bucks. That is a great price. I love big lots. I used to be able to pick up a Kartcher PW for 100 bucks every year. But it doesn't seem like they are going to carry them this year.

Were you able to get any quick pictures. If it gives a nice enough gloss, I may decide to give it a go on my company vehicle.

The spray sealant makes red look like a coat of clear was just laid down. I think this would look great on Reds, yellows, and most lighter colors, especially metallics. I'd avoid it on darker solids.

At Biglots today, I picked up a bottle of the pearl glo, two kit bike shine's (says it's a pure golden carnauba spray lol) and some black magic express spray foam wax, along with a new armor all-orange microfiber mitt.

I spent $13 and some change for all of this. Didn't really need anything except for a new wash mitt. lol

I thought about buying some black magic interior spray, but the bottle says it expired back in 2006. I just wonder how old the stuff is I just bought? No dates on these bottles, and I don't see the foam spray wax on black magic's site.

I have used the Black Magic Express Spray wax before, it is really good as a topper wax.

Sounds good.

After doing some searching, it looks like people were talking about this product back in 07. I didn't see anything negative written about it.

The kit "bike shine" carnauba got a really good review from a motorcycle site.

Total Motorcycle reviews. Kit Bike Shine Motorcycle Detailer

Even if it doesn't last all that long, for a $2.00 carnauba wax/topper I can't complain. This is the cheapest carnauba I've ever purchased. lol

Too bad my Swissvax's and Zymol's weren't this cheap. :lol

I am glad I am not the only one the scours Big Lots/ Dollar General et al for heavily discounted car care products. I have scored Turtle Wax Express Shine for $3 at DG and Collinite IW845 at Harbor Freight.

There's nothing wrong with shopping the discount stores-sometimes you find gems and sometimes duds-either way your not out much.
