PC to restore finish

Hello everyone,

I recently picked up a 1993 Acura Legend, "cashmere silver" but it is more of a sandy beige color.

Long story short, the car is originally from Riverside, CA and bought it from the original owner who recently moved into my area.

The finish is, well to put it mildly "matte". It doesn't have a lot of chips / major scratches however it desperately needs to be taken care of, and seeing as the car runs and drives like it is off the showroom floor (even with having 230k on the clock), it has zero rust and is structurally sound.

I confess I am sort of a novice, I've had a PC 7336 for a couple years, love it to death and get great results on my other car. I use a lot of Mothers stuff, along with Menzerna Intensive Polish when needed.

It appears as though the clear coat is "still there" and theres no white stain / super oxidation on the car.

I'll post pics if needed. The weather is starting to get really nice up here in NY and I would like to get the old girl looking as best she can.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome,

Im kinda a novice too but I would say go over the car with a heavy compound and try and remove a layer of clear, then polish, swirl remove, finishing polish/ wax

Try your IP on an oarange pad and see what kind of improvment you get. You might need to step up to a real compound tho.

Hope that helps a little bit

Working with a PC is time consuming and tedious

You need to really go over the area your working with over and over and over again untill the polish or compound is worked in.

It takes a lot of work to remove heavy swirls or any kind of scratches with a PC from my experiances.

Then again im sure there is heavier compounds out there that could make the job easier but im using an average swirl/scratch remover.
