PC to Mac

Made the switch this weekend from my, not so trusty, PC to a new MacBook. That's the good news. The bad news is that I built my website using Yahoo Site Builder and I figured out this weekend that it is not compatible with Mac.

I have always liked my website but now I have to start from scratch and rebuild it using iWeb. Which is fine.....but the learning curve will be big. I have to learn about using a Mac and figure out iWeb at the same time.

I have two questions/favors to ask:

1. If anyone is using a Mac for their business and has some tips for me it would be greatly appreciated.

2. Wondering if there was anything you guys might think needs to be changed/removed/added on my website. Seeing as how I am starting over it would be a good time to make changes.

Home

Thanks, in advance, for the help!!

why not just run windows OS in a virutal enviorment, giving you the ability to still use i assume internet explorer to continue improving your site?

otherwise, i'm sure there is tuts and videos to use iWeb.

i think the site isn't bad. maybe a bit more organized in the layout.

like the gallery seems like it's all over the place. maybe a bread down by make/model type or just something more aligned.

Hey congrats on the Macbook. I don't have a detail business, (hope to maybe have one in the future) But i have owned a few clothing companies. It's a great tool. You will have iWeb running your site in no time. Another great program is Dreamweaver more advance but great in its own right.

Like A guerrrajr said.. Organize..

but it looks good

OK......published the new site. So go check it out. I don't have all the gallery pics up yet but I am working on it.

iWeb is so much easier to work on than Site Builder! It's more intuitive than I ever though a program could be. Makes life very easy!!

I don't know what a virtual environment is and it just sounds like more than I was willing to deal with. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Looks better

some of your images arent working. when i access any pages, the top right 2 images are not populating. At least for me, i see red X's

I get a good chuckle out of people who buy Macs and then end up running a virtualizer and Windows. There is no point in that, you get twice the headache (two desktops to manage, updates and new software for both, etc), a slow running version of windows and you paid twice what you should have for it.

LoL

Yes its all true!!

Smart idea getting a Mac. I own several Macs. We use a iMac in our shop for invoices and quickbooks. When you need a computer that works every day, buy a Mac.

Us Mac people get a good chuckle every time we see the Geek Squad at a neighbors house trying to figure out what is wrong with their PC.

I get a chuckle out of YOU MAC people as I'm typing from my MacBook. If you think one brand of computer is the answer to all your problems, you need to get out a bit more.

I must say that this is the happiest I have been with a computer in a loooooong time! But it is by no means the answer to all my problems....LOL!! I am still old and fat! LOL!!

well i say what i say, then again i work in this industry and do desktop support for a living, so PC is fine and has been for me.

I can't justify paying that much money for a computer that doesn't have HDMI, faster write speeds.

maybe one day...

Do not worry about not having Windows. Do not split your drive for Windows on a Mac. You will get viruses and all sorts of small problems, it's not worth it. I had always had PC most of my life and switched to a Macbook Pro and Mac Mini and will NOT go back to PC. I still have a PC laptop I use here and there but Mac has so many more applications that are so much easier to use with fewer problems, glitches and less of a chance of getting a virus. I won't say that Mac is the only way to go because PC has it's upsides too but then again if you do what I do with music editing/recording studio work and also movie work then Mac is the only way to go.

Once you get used to your new Mac you will find that it's MUCH easier to use trust me. Good luck on your site!
