PC technique

I have curb rash on my tires from trying to get to close in fear of door dings.I have noticed now when I try to treat them with dressing you can still see where I hit the curb.Any cure for this or somthing that might help?I was luck enough not to get the rims. Thanks

Curb rash on tires will go away on its own. If you want to accelerate this, try scrubbing it lightly with a brass brush until you reduce the appearance of it. Do this as you would if polishing out a scratch; go lighter and lighter.

Finish up with a slightly softer brush scrubbing harder then lighter and lighter. This should help some, but the curb rash will go away on its own if left alone.

I've been busy with other things this summer and finally got to working on a decent vehicle with my PC, 6.5" OC pads and 105/205. I tried to minimize some scratches in the paint without much luck and would like some pointers (even after reading the forums for the last 6 months). I primed the pads per Todd's posts, started at 3 1/2 or 4 to cover the area of interest, then bump it up to 5ish and work until the compound starts to dust (105) or my hand gets too hot (not using the handle). Is there a rule of thumb for rotation speed of the pads (marked on edge of the pad so I can see if it is rotating or now) to get the KBM style of correction?

Hey Harry,
It's been a while since I have seen you here. Nice to have you back!!!!
The 5.5 pads should work nicely. Also remember to use downward pressure while polishing. You want to use enough pressure that the rotation slows down, but doesn't come to a stop.
Let us know how it turns out.:Dancing Dot:

Thanks Barry! Sorry to hear you out of your job (never fun once you have been there more than once). Will give the 5.5 or 4" pads a shot later after school starts or maybe even the Surbuf pads (can get them locally at a woodworking store I think).
