PC rotation/orbiting

Here in Belgium, the PC7424 is not available.

But the local bodyshop has a sort of look-a-like...

It's just that when turning the machine on, with the pad an all in place at 1000 rpm or so, you just can hold the pad and it doesn't move, only oscilliating.

Is this also with the PC, or will that machine actually make a rotation AND orbital movement...
 
The PC will behave as you described. When enough pressure is applied (and it doesn't take much), it will stop spinning and merely oscillate (weakly). Using a smaller, 4" pad will help somewhat, but a better solution (just *IMO*) is to use a different machine like a Cyclo.



The Cyclo brand polisher won't "bog down"/merely oscillate like the PC; if you grab its pad you'll get hurt. It is available in 240v versions for Euro use and it's a very durable tool (I've had my older one for 20 years).
