Im ordering the sonus das polishing kit on here in a few days. I've learned all i need to know, except for.......

When polishing with the PC, do i need to stay off the edges and do them by hand,( like the tops of the fenders) or is it ok? because i know your not suppose to with a rotary.

Thanks, RonTL

i have 2 more questions.....

How fast do i move the PC when polishing?

And i have a s10 that says chevorlet across the tailgate....is it ok the polish on that? I guess its like a decal or something...

You should be fine in polishing anything with the PC. I do not stay off the edges with the pc except when I have fresh polish on the pad and dont want it to fill the body panel line with polish. I move the PC very slowly when polishing. Maybe a 6 second count to move a foot. That is on speed 6.

Let me throw in a "yeah, but.."

If you have any *really* rasied edges, like where two panels don't fit together right or where you have a really *sharp* edge, I *would* tape those, even with a PC. The paint is gonna be/get thin there and you don't want to accelerate this. Nothing to be paranoid about, but there are some cases that oughta be done, carefully, by hand- at least until you really get a feel for PCing.

How fast? Not very. You'll need to work each area a pretty long time for the PC to do its thing, it's mild, despite what I posted above.

Dunno about the tailgate, sorry.

I never seen anything bad happen to vinyl graphics from using a pc...then again I have never used anything stronger than DACP on vinyl so...IMHO if you use a polish up to that level of abbrasiveness you should be ok, at least from my experiences.
