hey guys, i need some advice. we are looking at a orital for the dealership and i was wondering if there is much if any, difference between a p.c. or dewalt models. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I hear the Dewalt might be better for polishing? Costs alot more however, and you will have to adjust for accessories. PC has be tried and tested very well for the detailer. I might go crazy and grab a DW443... or just grab a rotary. :hippi

yes there is a difference, the dw443 has a higher low end and a higher top end. it's also perfectly suited for dry wet sanding. the velcro backing plate has the vent holes for 3M velcro wet o dry sand paper and their interface pad matches up in the same manner. I've used this tool for 4 yrs every day 2 to 3 times a day and has proven to be very dependable with no brake downs.

The Dewalt costs about $130. Not much more than a pc. Alot more power and can do some correction alot faster than a pc. I've owned both machines for a long time and for the money, the Dewalt is a better value.

I can only speak for the DW have had one for two years and love it. Only draw back is the backing plate is a 1/4 inch bigger around and on 6" pad the velcro back goes over the edge of the foam velcro backing and can cut into the foam pad. I spoke with Edge Pads not long back and they are working on a backing plate for the DW that will be a bit smaller to work with the 6" pads. You can use the 7 inch pads but then you don't get the action from the orbital motion

Beemerboy do you think the DW can take the Edge2000 system? I guess accessories is the biggest problem.

The Edge 2000 system wont work with the DW orbital. I do know they have been trying to adapt something for it .

:( Sad. Guess I won't think of upgrading. Rotary it is.

Don't give up Woob , you know Aaron and the guys over at Edge are hard at work . Your not the only one that would like the the Edge 2000 pads for the DW RO.
