PC counterweight.

stupid question what does a Porter Cable 7424 counterweight look like? was it attached to the PC from the factory? and does anyone konw where I can get one for my 6" velcro backing plate? I suspect I may have been using it without the counterweight (possible?)

Nah, it's not a stupid Q and nah, yours didn't come without one.



The weight looks like a silver metal half-circle, like a section of a small orange (sorry, crappy analogy but it's all I can think of at the moment ). It's located behind the backing plate and is held on by two screws.



Take off the backing plate with the supplied wrench (wrench holds spindle, stopping it from turning- turn plate to unscrew it) and look for the silver metalic crescent-shaped thing. It'll probably say something like "use with 5" plates only".



The 6" weight is pn 399933 and only costs a few bucks from PC (888) 848-5175.
