paste wax v. liquid

Liquid is used mainly for machine application. I prefer paste, I find it does have better durability and you don't waste as much product.

A small can of paste wax (8 ounces) can yield up to 40 applications. You can probably get about 30 applications with a 16 oz bottle of liquid wax.

In terms of quality, the main difference would be the solvent content. Liquid waxes require a higher amount of solvents in order for the ingredients to stabilize into a liquid form.

If I were detailing a customer's car, would it be wise to use liquid because it seems as though you can apply it quickly. I've only used liquid wax. thanks.

Last week I spoke with someone at Autogeek and asked that same question. He echo'd much of what was said here and added this as well....typical liquid waxes will contain anywhere from 3-5% carnauba. Anything over that and they'll not be able to pour. Paste wax will can be as high as 33-35% carnauba (though not all are that high). Makes sense where the durability factor is concerned.
