this is my first post here, so i guess i'll introduce myself here before i ask my question. my name is josh and i own a 2004 v6 mustang.

i would like to paint the spoiler matte black, and i've been asking around on other boards about this as well. the main question i have remaining now is, what type of paint should i be looking for? can i buy it at walmart or will i have to go to a specialty store?

If you got an air compressor and a spray gun, you can do this yourself. Look for a good brand of paint such as PPG etc... I would go to a body shop supply store first. Leave Walmart for last.

If not, I would have a reputable body shop do it. I don't suggest spray painting it because the color won't be even.

The key to good results is of course, good prep work. Sand it the spoiler throughly. Maybe start out with 500 grit and work your way up to 1500-2000 grit. A Da sander works best for this. Also, if you choose to do multiple coats, make sure you wait sufficient time for each of paint to dry. As always, mask off!!

Before you start out, what I like to do is clean the spoiler throughly. I like to use TSP(Trisodium Phosphate) If you decide to use a household cleaner such as Spic N Span or something, make sure you rinse the spoiler to remove any residue the cleaner left behind.
