Painters tape? Yes or No

Shine? That's not a shine
Does anyone use the painters tape to protect the rubber or plastic moldings?

Ive never messed with a compound/polish/wax that I couldnt get off trim with nothing more than some APC.

Yep. I ALWAYS use it when using a rotary. Sometimes even with the PC D.A. Spending the extra 5-10 minutes to put the tape on really helps the job go easier and with more piece of mind.

I also use the blue tape. I think it is worth the very few minutes it takes to put on in order to save either 1) clean up time later (when I'm tired and lazy) 2) to protect the trim piece. I use the wide roll more than the narrow. I find that I can run a strip up both sides of the trim and just pinch the edges together to cover it. It's especially useful on those water nozzles on hoods. I hate scraping wax residue out of those.

I have to get some tape DACP stained the trim under the front windshield I got it off with Glass cleaner and a tooth brush later.

Yes, but with a rotary and possibly a PC at higher speeds, some trim sometimes wants to come off the car. At best, it damages pads, at worst, it is shrapnel.:p

Not to mention you can severly damage the trim if you hit it with a compound spinning at even 1500 rpms!

Well I ahvent messed with a PC much less a rotary yet. Im sure when I get around to ordering my PC and Megs #66, I wil lget some tape for customers cars.

I hate Rotary spallater I cover everything Tires,Windshield Whipers, All molding Bumbers Lights. Makes easier removal later instead of going around and gettin the small specs off.

One of the biggest reasons i use notron's liquid abrasives. Pull out the hose and spray it off. Whala! it's all gone! I don't care about splater at all anymore. I have a feeling if i went back to using some regular compounds I'd make a bigger mess than anyone on the board ever has.

How does that work? The easy wash off that is. Is it not kind of a hassle to go off and wash the car again?

Pardon my ignorance, just asking questions. I have not messed with a PC, cyclo, or rotary yet.
