paint problem?

Ok guys, I don't think anything can repair this but a repaint, I just need some input here...it appears as if the paint is cracking. What the hell is going on? This is on the hood of my black 97 honda civic. The rest of the paint is okay, its just the hood, could it be the heat from the engine causing this?

yeah, it looks like the beginning of clear coat failure.

what caused the failure of the clearcoat? its only on the hood, would the heat from the engine cause this?

The paint underneath the clear is dry and oxidated. Not from the engine heat, but from UV rays. It is most common on the hood and horizontal surfaces because they have more exposure to the sun.
