Paint overspray nightmare

The truck was totally covered in overspray (Yellow) oil based paint. The entire vehicle including the glass felt like sandpaper. It was quite a job, it took 4.5 hrs to clay alone. I followed the clay with AIO & S100.....This is one of those times that make me really appreciate those two products for ease of use. I only accepted the detail because it was an insurance job that paid very well.

Overspray removal is very frustrating. After my front bumper was repainted I found overspray over my whole car, even the tires and wheels. I didn't trust the shop so I did it myself. Took me about 4 days on and off.:wall Seems like every time I thought I was done, I'd find more.: At least you got paid.:D Truck looks very good BTW.:up

how'd it get hit with the yellow paint? construction painting job or road line work? or other? In other words, how the hell did it happen so I can try to avoid the nightmare!!!

I know what you mean by over spray. My neighbor decided to paint his house onone of the windiest days of the year.

Nice thing about it, his insurance company just bought me a complete exterior detail. They are going to shoot the convertible top with an elastomeric coating. All together it's going to run $500.00 to detail it ($150.00 to the top alone). How much did you charge for the truck?

Wholy crap! Your neighbor is lucky to live beside you, if he lived beside me I'd have found him in a dark street and in a ski mask would beat the hell out of him.... And then make his insurance pay :)

The truck was parked next to a gas station that was having the exterior painted. The overspray got two vehicles. The truck in the photo & a SUV that I 'm doing today. I charged $400.00 per vehicle. The owner of the station is a client of mine. He's the only reason I accepted this undertaking....

:lol :rofl True autopian!:D

No pics of before, but it was not as extreme looking as 94blkstangs photo.....On the red paint it looked like a layer of thick dust. Suggestion.....only do this type of work if the money's right......It's not enjoyable at all.

I just got my Mustang back from the detail shop last night and it came out excellent. They had to put an elastomeric dye coating on the convertible top to cover the overspray and the top looks awesome. They also dyed the two plastic mirror housings, the cowel cover and wiper arms. Being a 94 those areas were looking somewhat weathered, but they now look like new now. The body came out awesome and also had some PDR done on a door that's been annoying me for awhile with a small dent. All in all I was very pleased and I'll try and post pics in a day or two. Total cost was $350.00 for the overspray removal and detail, $150.00 to put the coating on the top and $75.00 for the PDR. All courtesy of my neighbors insurance company.:D
