Paint doesn't feel very slick after AIO... OK to clay?

I started my paint prep process by washing, then claying, then polishing with the PC and SSR2.5/yellow pad, polishing with SSR1/black pad, wash, AIO, wash. My paint does not feel slick to the touch like it has post-clay in previous years. Is it possible to clay over the AIO? Will it get the particles out? Will I have to reapply the AIO?

I would want to reapply the AIO after claying.



You should have smooth paint after the claying and SSR 2.5/yellow pad. If not, you weren't thorough enough; or, more contaminants were somehow introduced. Do you have any trees near your detailing area? Are you sure you're not feeling little paint chips from wear and tear, rather than grit stuck in the paint?



Why are you rewashing after AIO?
