Paint Decon on Boat Hull OK?

A friend of mine has a 1998 Monterrey (however you spell it) and it could use some claying before being polished and waxed this Spring. As big as the hull is, claying will take all day. I am wondering if it could be decontaminated instead? Is it OK to decon a boat's gel coat?

Decon should be no problem. I descum boats with strong acid with no problems. Rinse well.

Have you looked at one of those pads for the PC that holds a clay bar? That would make the job a little easier.

Why do you need to clay the boat? Doest the gel coat have some dirt or imperfections in it. If not you just need to give it a big time polish job. That will remove oxidation. Then coat the boat with Optiseal. A sealant will last much longer than a wax.
