paint chip repair tip

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to detailing (which has been a great outlet for my OCD). A while back, a 1/4" gouge mysteriously appeared on the front of my nordic gold Cayenne (near the emblem). The gouge went into the base material. I didn't want to repaint the entire front end ($$$$$), so I researched several repair methods and settled on using Langka's blob eliminator. The damaged area was wet sanded, cleaned, and prepped. I used the smear method with the supplied plastic card to fill the gouge with several layers of oem paint, but I wasn't satisfied with the final paint layer application - the paint adhered to the card, didn't have the proper metallic look, and the surface was not smooth/flush enough to my liking.

I found the solution to my problem in my sewing basket (I'm into way too many craft hobbies) . . . teflon pressing sheet. I tightly wrapped the plastic card with a piece of the teflon sheet (which is very smooth and slick). When I dragged the teflon covered card across the freshly applied paint, I was able to smear the paint flush with the surrounding area with an relatively even distribution of metallic flakes. Now I just need to let the paint dry really well and use the Langka product only on the surrounding areas to remove any paint residues before clearcoating the area with the teflon covered card.
