i have an orbital buffer which uses hook and loop (velcro) to hold the pads on. I have many posts of most of you talk of the rotary ones from Lakewook etc. Does anyone know where i can buy some quality pads for this ?

What type of orbital do you have? Is it a single speed buffer sort of like one of these?:

The cheapest place to buy good pads is here:

There are sources for 4" pads if you want to try them, but it depends on what type of buffer you have as to what pads you'll be able to use.

It's like one of those - single speed, except it's cordless and has a long handle to hold it like a PC.

If it's like one of these:

Then you are more or less limited to applying waxes/sealers with it. It isn't powerful or fast enough to polish defects out of paint.

I used the one in the link above to apply a coat of #16 wax last week with a Meg's 6.5" finish pad and it did OK. I think it may bog down less with 4" pads, but the only ones I found so far in a 4" finish pad are made for a Cyclo polisher. I just received them yesterday and they look OK, not the best, but for under $3 ea they'll do for now:

You could use a 6/6.5" pad with a MF bonnet to remove the wax/sealer but I really think it'd be faster doing that by hand with a good MF (microfiber towel).

Hereâ€â„¢s my review of that polisher if it's the same or similar to yours:

I bought the same one as Salty from Canadian Tire for $30 regular $90. I figured for the price it's a great bang for the buck!! I applied SSR2.5, and then NXT already and i think it did a pretty good job for the money. But it definitely need better pads i think.

I also have a 10" orbital buffer - maybe this would be best and quickest and keep the 4" for tighter smaller areas ?

Well it is hard to beat because it's so cheap, but I'd be careful using it with something like SSR2.5. I don't think this little guy is fast or powerful enough to break a polish that abrasive down properly, especially with a larger pad.

But for larger pads try the link I left before for Excel Detail, and for smaller pads (4") you can get the cheap Cyclo pads from TOL. Autopia is supposed to get some good 4" pads made by Sonus or LC pretty soon.

I wonder if i could wrap those Autopia bonnets around the 6" pad it came with. I wonder if they would fit ?
