p21s wheel gel

just from a cost stand point, I feel like I will blow through the stuff if its not dilutable. and at 100 bucks a gallon, its rather expensive

I use the P21S gel because I get a good price on it from a local supplier. Honestly, when I'm out of the P21S gel, Megs APC+ or Super Degreaser works just fine. Just make sure the wheel is cool and don't let any of it dry. Much cheaper too.

Give Griot's wheel cleaner a try when you need more product. It's virtually as good (and gentle) as the P21S products, but at a fraction of the cost.

I have had good luck using dawn dishwashing liquid to remove brake dust and crud. It's cheap and works nearly as well as the P21S at removing hard to remove baked on crud. But when nothing else will work that's when I use the P21S gel.

Really? can you elaborate on how you use it?

I just squeeze out about an ounce or less of dawn into a bucket with 2 gallons of hot water. I then use my turtle wax wheel brush to get the soap solution into the crevices of the wheel. I let it sit about 5 minutes then I go ahead and use the brush to scrub out the wheel. I usually get 95% of the crud and dust off the wheel. Whatever is left is attacked with either P21S wheel gel or eagle wheel & tire cleaner. I find that if I apply collinite 845 on the wheels every 3 months, it really cuts down on the dust that sticks to the wheel. Usually the car wash soap is enough to get most of the crud off.

I've also been using CG gel wheel cleaner with a shot of CG CW Clear. Kicks butt! The CG CW Clear allows the cleaners to cling a bit better/longer. With a 5:1 dilution ratio my gallon of CG gel wheel cleaner will last way longer than my 5L cannister of P21S wheel gel did.

Is the Chem Guys gel wheel cleaner a new product? I don't see it on their website :nixweiss

thx.

I guess there are 2 new wheel gel cleaners. Both are citrus based with no nasty acids or alkaline cleaners.

One is the Citrus Wheel Gel and the other is Sticky Wheel gel. Both are citrus based but the 'Sticky' one is a thicker gel. Not sure if they are the same cleaner.

It looks like I bought the thinner Citrus Wheel Gel cleaner. I thought it would have been thicker based on the claims for it being a substitute for the P21S wheel gel. And the 5:1 dilution recommendation made it even thinner. That's the reason I add some CW Clear to the spary bottle to thicken it up a bit. I thought I was buying the 'Sticky' version.

Oh well, I'll have to try it later. I am very pleased with this combo so far.
