hi, i'm new in this forum...I'm an italian detailer, and here, in Italy, there isn't the passion for the beauty of cars...here there are not good wax or sealant...the only interesting waxes are meg's GC and NXT...now I want to try P21s wax or P21s 100%...which of these waxes, Gc or P21s is better for a solid black colour, in your opinion?...thanks...sorry for my english

HiHi!

Most products you could ever want you could probably get shipped to you from the UK, with the € performing pretty well it shouldent cost that much more.

Also, this very site sells a line of products called "Ultima" which the DavidB says the costs work out very smiliar as they would to buy them from a local source as you get such a lot product life out of a small, light weight package. I recommend them Autopia if your intreasted as i have had stuff shipped to the UK.

Anyway! Back to the original question. Gold Class doesnt last very long, it doesnt have any fillers and the looks it provides are fairly average. You would need to prep the car first with atleast a paintwork cleaner.

P21s (the original one) isnt very durable either! It leaves a wet reflective finish that will look great on black. IMO, and i know im sticking my head out on this one but both are old and prehapes past there best compared to alot of products on the market.

The P21s 100% puts P21s back in touch with the new waxes. In terms of looks and durability it certantly seems like a great buy!

paoloporsche, welcome to Autopia. :welcome

BTW, your English is excellent. Don't worry. :)

As far as your question about waxes, in my experience, all the waxes you mentioned (GC, NXT, P21S) will look great on black.

Of the three you'll probably get better durability with NXT - which isn't really great anyway.

But if you have the detailing bug like the rest of us on Autopia, you'll probably won't be able to keep your hands off your car and wax it often, so durability won't be an issue. ;)

Keep in mind, that 90% of the paints appearance is due to it being 'prepped' properly by claying, removal of defects by polishing, and 'burnishing' the paint with a final polish. THEN wax. :up

thanks, dear friends Autopians...I'm a fanatic in detailing, but here, in Italy, the top car, are only for money ostenation...many new and old beautiful car, are in a bad state of healt:down...here thre is not the culture of the beauty body...a careless wash...an go! Yes, I wax my car very very frequently...I don't care of durability of a wax...Tank you very much for your kind replies

I remember the summers I would go visit my grandfather in Procida there was never a clean car lol. When we went to other island like Capri, Ischia and Sardenia there would be atleast a few cars thet were washed.

Paolo where in Italy are you?

I have never used Gold CLass or the P21

I do really like Meg NXT 2.0. I have had that on our Accord goin on over 2 months, I do use Meg Ultimate Quick Detailer on the car weekly and it still beads water and looks great.

Original P21S vs GC, imo P21S is better. I haven't read too much in favour of Gold Class, I'd think NXT would be a better choice in the Meguiars survival of the fittest.

Welcome to the site, enjoy!

I used all of the products mentioned, and I've never been satisfied with GC or NXT...or for any of the over-the-counter products.

P21S is a go-to favorite of mine for black and red. Especially for the money, it's a great product. The 100% P21S is not quite as easy to apply, and really looks about the same. I've heard the 100% lasts a little longer, but I wouldn't know, because I'm always putting on another coat.

As someone else said, it's the prep (clay, polish, etc) that really makes the final wax good or bad. With bad prep, they'll all look the same. With good prep, the P21S will really stand above the others.

For a Carnauba spray that's a full-fledged wax, and something I use weekly (and sometimes more) when I don't want to use P21S, take a look at Jeff's Carnauba:

Good Luck

I have used both and the only one I use on my dark colored porsche is the P21s. As others have said it does not have a high durablility, but gives a nice deep finish to the car. To increase durability you can add an all in one sealant like Klasse and then use the P21s to add depth.

I have tyo say. I do extensive prep work, and my customer's haven't been able to tell the difference between P21S and MGC. Now the only real difference that I've been able to tell is that the MGC likes to set up (haze) a bit longer than the p21S. The depth of the LSP is nearly identical, but I do like the removal of the p21S a bit more. I've always been extremely happy with most Meguiar's product. I've also layered the MGC and p21S over Klasse AIO and both gained great depth and durability.

To repeat what another poster said, I think the most important thing to consider is your prep work. Provided your prep is good, I think the GC looks amazing. Very deep, dark and wet.

Of course, if you could get your hands on some Meguiar's NXT 2.0, I say get some and you will not be disappointed.

I've used GC before...is considered a very average wax...and is not in the same league as p21s or any of the other premium waxes...but as another post above stated, the biggest part of obtaining "eye catching" results is proper prep and the prior steps (polishing, etc...) that come before wax application...

today I have finally tested p21s regular wax and 100%:bounce vs Gold Class...p21s wins over GC and 100%...in my opinion regular p21s gives more shine and gloss than 100%...in my opinion wins clearly over GC...better for shine, gloss, clarity...

Good find! There really isn't a right or wrong answer when it comes to waxes. It's what looks good *to you*. The fun part is trying all the different ones and learning how they look; the subtle differences in appearance becomes more noticeable as you gain more experience with them. Waxing a car isn't a job... it's an experience!

Glad to hear you found something you like!

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but I'm still having trouble THINLY applying waxes. Even using the new P21S 100% this past weekend, I was trying like hell for very thin layers, but I'm still putting a lot down. Luckily, the 100% is EASY to remove.

Any tips?
