P21S vs Blitz - My Experience

Well, as a die hard Blitz fan I decided to use P21S on the bimmer this last weekend.

First impressions - I wasn't too impressed - call me crazy but it seemed to get deeper after a couple of hours or it was my imagination:confused: .

Application: P21S was easy on and off as is Blitz.

Pro in the fact it doesn't stain my black trim as Blitz may so I didn't have to be as careful around the molding.

Results: I think Blitz has better depth whereas the P21S seemed to be more reflective and wet looking.

One major bonus after a couple of days is that it doesn't seem to attract dust like Blitz does.

I don't have much of a preference either way right now.

Both are excellent waxes!

You aren't crazy. S100 aka P21S does noticably deepen it's shine after a while. On metallics, it really makes the color pop out. Wait until after you wash it the first time. The shine seems to deepen even more.

Hi Deemo,

I too like both P21S and Blitz. Both are real good but my preference leans towards P21S for the ease of application and nonstaining benefit. Can't go wrong with either one.

With Aloha,

Ranney

Thanks Scott.

It is silver metallic and the flecs showed up very nicely today.

Silver is easy to keep clean but not as satisfying after a large detail job like this weekend.

Is a second coat this weekend worth it (you being the resident local P21S expert)?

I don't know about being an expert on P21S/S100, but I've been very happy with the results I get from it.

Yeah, go ahead and put on another coat. It does seem to get better with multiple coats and it stays real slick longer. I have one customer with a 3 month old 745 Li that already has 6 coats of S100 and the paint shines so much it looks radioactive. It's metallic black, btw.

P21S's wet shine after the first wash is quite unbelievable! :up

....ahem....

And who introduced you all to P21S?? :D

....just your friendly neighborhood guru tester. (hehe)

I'd seen ads for P21S for a while, but didn't try it until I got used the wet shine of Soveran and you reported that P21S shined even more. The effect of multiple coats on a metallic car is unreal.

And I'm glad you did.

I've found at least 2 coats to be far more durable than just one. The look is incredible too. Great 3 season wax.

However, since it's a Carnauba, it won't be on except as a top coat soon since Winter is coming all too soon. Some times we have to go 3-4 months without a wax job, and if real cold and snowy, even a wash job. Frustrating.

This winter it is Blackfire.

I have noticed one draw back to having multiple coats of S100/P21S on my car. Since it is still very hot here is AZ (94° today), I sometimes will get very fine (they look like scratches but there not) lines in the soft wax when dusting with my California car duster. After dusting, I can see them when I get the sun refection just right.

Anyway, I just use Meguiar’s Final Inspection and a soft MF from PakShak and they go away. I did not notice this when I was just using one layer of S100 on my car nor did I notice it when I changed to one layer of Meguiar’s #26 topped with one layer of S100.

I currently have 4 layers of S100 over one layer of #26 and I think this may be too many layers for the hot desert heat. I wonder is anyone else who has layered S100/P21S has seen this too?

After I read your report I placed my order for the P21S and have been amazed ever since! Thanks again for that Wax Test report. :xyxthumbs

After about 4-5 days and the first wash, go over with OGSO qd and I think you'll be extremely satisfied. :up. P21s/OGSO has become my defacto standard for carnauba based application. They really complement each other.

Anyone else notice S100 seems to be more susceptible to fingerprint smudges than Blitz, especially over the first few days? (multiple kids ya know).

Was your paint just as hot all three times you've done this? I'm almost certain that the streaking you see is actually just from the parafin from the CCD melting off onto the car. This happened to me once too and I freaked out until I realized I was using it on a hot surface (which I'd never done before). Likewise, a quick QD fixed it. Wiping with a MF didn't introduce more streaks (I never go too heavy on the QD), and parafin does melt at pretty low temperatures, so I think this is all it was. Yes, this was on one of my S100 layers :)

This is why they say not to use a CCD on a hot paint surface sitting in the sun. :doh

Nope, the car was not sitting in the hot sun, but was in the garage. I noticed the scratches when I pulled the car out into the sun light. Just moved it back into the shade of the garage and then went over it with FI and MF and that cleaned it up. I never use my CCD when the car is hot or has been sitting in the sun. Usually, first thing in the AM when it’s as cool as it’s going to get is when I dust with the CCD. The times when I did notice the scratches where when I use the CCD later in the afternoon while the car was still in the garage but it’s a lot hotter then.

I don’t think it’s the paraffin wax from the CCD because I tested it on my front window the same day. It does leave some paraffin wax spots but not like the scratches in the wax. The scratches in the wax are the full length/width of the duster and I would only get spotting when I ran it over the front window.

In the summer, my garage is lucky to cool down to a 100° at night because it’s just hot here all the time. I’m thinking off putting in a cooler for the garage just to help during the summer months (summer is about 7 months long here in AZ).

Yeah, that's one of the first things I noticed. The way I get into my car I always grab the top of the 'A' pillar to slide into the driver's seat. The next time I got ready to get into my car, I saw 4 fingerprints from where I got in the last time. I never noticed this when I use Blitz or since I've switched to Souveran. I guess it's because both of these waxes are kind of dry compared to the creaminess of S100/P21S.

S100 is the best ive ever used, with regards to shine and ease of application and removal, not having to wait for it to haze is the best part! and i find the depth is fantastic on my silver volks, comparable to IHG, but with the protection

The fingerprint smudging went away after the first wash, so maybe I didn't buff enough...or maybe its just a time/cure thing.

On my light blue car my P21s loks great over the top of a megs no 9, 7, 26 combo. If blitz give good depth, how about a layer of blitz topped with P21s????
