Wish I had enough storage space so I could easily reach any product like you can now.

One day ...

Not bad shelving. You have quite the stock of product there for detailing your car. I take it that those are the best of the best? I've used the Quick Detailing before and found that to be great stuff, amazing how it picks up the dirt and leaves it clean! I have a 2002 Miata (FM2).

We haven't been stocking cleaning/detaling/wax products for resale but had been considering it for next year, currently the products carry we focus more on the garage (organization, storage & flooring) then the car.

Are those the best of breed for each that are a must? This may be a dangerous comment, but what you have ... is that overkill? Or should I say of the collection you do have, what is really a must, and what is more of a nice to have?

Cheers,

Quentin

its kind of an overkill but each have their own advantages. such as poorboys for when i work in the sun, menzerna for dark colored cars, optimum products for when i work on light colored cars or ill be inside, meguiars b/c they were the first products i ordered, and just trying products out

Can't go wrong with Poorboys.

Menzerna polishes are definitely one of the best.

Klasse AIO is an absolute must for me.

Optimum is an up-and-coming brand. OCW, OCP and OCC are uniquely excellent products.

If you can only go with one, it would be Poorboys.

I love the fact that you have WAY too many polishes....I feel much better about my overstock now.

Damn nice way of arranging. It even looks like as if it was a showroom! Make me want to do the same to mine as well.

nice product list dude! may i suggest a less harsh wash soap and something to do engine/wheel well cleaning?

a less harsh soap then NXT? also, i have Purple Power degreaser for engine and wheel wells

I've noticed less durability out of my carnaubas when I used NXT soap. I bought a gallon of TOL's Bubble Bath, redid my LSP's, used it, and durability increased by a few weeks. I recently received a gallon of SS&S so when my remain 5 or so washes of TOL is gone, I'll do the same again and test durability. Besides the durability, I noticed that NXT had a better cleaning ability than that of the TOL soap. I suppose as cleaning ability goes up, down goes LSP durability :nixweiss

On a side note, I currently use those large clear plastic rubbermaid containers that you can get at walmart to organize my products. They're great for holding stuff but I'm kinda annoyed that around the bottom edge of the bin, there's a slight bowl and all my products fall over because of it. Can anyone recommend a new bin for me that has a completely flat bottom?

Nice setup 03k20a2 :xyxthumbs And if you get some tote bins you can fit even more products on those shelves. ;)

QuentinJS, there really isn't a "best of breed for each that are a must". There are a number of excellent product/manufacturers and each has their own flavor. Each individual decides for themselves what works best for them. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't introduce your customers to your choice of brand. Many customers need a starting place and will be happy to go with yours. They may very well want to stay with it too.

Since your business is Total Garage & Home Innovations I think it's a great idea for you to supply detailing products. I'm sure your customers would love to get totally set up. On top of that you can build a revenue stream that continues on long after your installation is complete (and may lead to repeat customers with additional installs) or brings in customers outside of the installs.

If I were in your position I'd try to stick with one or two high quality suppliers to keep continuity and service to your business up while keeping confusion and complexity to your customers down. Few (probably none) of your customers will be Autopians who really want to try lots of different products and tackle many challenging detailing projects.

A big outfit like Meguiar's would bring a full compliment of chemicals, towels and tools to your business and provide some name recognition with clients. A specialty supplier like Poorboys would give you a level of differentiation (and some exclusivity) but you'd need additional suppliers for tools. A boutique supplier like Pinnacle adds an image of elegance and refinement. Each makes excellent products (as do others). It's up to you to decide what you think best suits you and your customers.
