OptiSeal vs Aquawax

Looks like my AW is ganging up on my Opti Seal!

:chuckle:

Sorry, couldn't resist. I did try the Optiseal on my BMW. No problems with streaking at all. Pretty easy to apply spraying onto a foam applicator but it did tend to "grab" sometimes. I find AW easier to apply but I use big a Megs MF QD sponge for that. Once the foam applicator is primed, one spray does a panel.

Tha car has a 2 month old layer of DG105 with a two week old layer of AW. After washing with NXT wash it looked pretty good. I dried and applied OS. Took about 10-15 mins to do the car. After another 15 mins I took some snapshots before it started getting dark.

After washing:

Also did the hood on the Jeep, half AW and half OS:

Hopefully better pics tomorrow in sunlight

All in all, I like the OS. The difference is very subtle and not really noticeable in the pics. Surprisingly, I could tell the biggest difference on silver where the OS has a bit more gloss and wetness.

BTW, on the full car picture the front fascia/bumper was not treated. You can actually see a difference in shine.

hahaha, funny pic. i also couldn't resist, today i stopped by my local carquest and picked up some of this and it was on sale! if i like it, i'll be back to pick up the gallon!

I get the feeling you will end up with the gallon. Great soap!

Looks about like my AW stash! lol :D

On a serious note...has anyone noticed that AW almost acts like a spray-on, walk away type of product? What I mean is, I was applying the AW last weekend to my car, and being very observant noticed that as I spread around the AW after a mist onto a panel, that it dried up and disappeared on its own! I didn't even need to do a final buff. I paid very close attention to this and tried it multiple times....after spreading around the film, I watched as it literally "melted" into the paint without a final buff. Just an observation I have made recently....I would still recommend a final wipe to avoid any possible streaking issues, but I was curious that if I let the AW film dry on its own, if that would increase durability slightly more. I'll have to watch that one....

Mike :)

That's how I've always used AW. It dries as you spread it and I rarely go back and buff. Never had streaking problems.

On the green Jeep I did half AW and half OS. Both easy to apply but AW is easier. My wife and I have been trying to make out a difference but both sides look about the same. As I stated before, there might be s slight more gloss to the OS if you really look for it but it is minimal.

Last night we had a slight rain and beading is the same. Can anyone guess wich side is which?

Even tho OS is a good product, it makes me appreciate how good AW is. The price is a bonus.

I'm gonna say the left side (passenger side of hood) was AW. Having never used OS tho, it is difficult to tell! Great pic BTW! :goodjob

I definitely agree about AW being great and a great value/performance ratio as well. We just had some showers the other day and my entire car was beaded like that. I just love to see it too!

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I really was blown away by the soap because since I was using NXT, I figured how much better could it be? I recommend you to use the soap back to back (maybe on those 2 car wash days when you're doing the family fleet?) and ell me you don't see/feel a huge difference. NXT and Gold Class users are missing out. I still have a bit over half a gallon left of NXT and I almost want to throw it out just so I can start using the DG wash LOL

Same here. I've never had AW streak on me so far. My Opti-Seal hasn't arrived yet, but for me it's hard imagining a product easier to use/apply than AquaWax. But if Opti-Seal's durability claims are there, even if it's not as easy to apply as AW, it would be worth that extra little effort.

OMG! How could you tell?

Well it's only a 50/50 guess :) Plus, when you mentioned that you did your hood half and half earlier you said you did AquaWax vs Optiseal. I would imagine that if you had done it the other way around, you would have "Optiseal vs AquaWax"

Another vote for DG car wash - and it's on sale at CarQuest! If they just had a compound and polish like Optimum - I'd be DG all the way!!
