Optimum Polish

Finally I figure out how to post pictures online. Special thanks to Anthony O. who taught me from using Optimum products and posting pictures.

The following 98 MB E430 was detailed about 2 weeks ago. I used Optimum clay, Optimum polish with LC yellow pad on rotary buffer from 1,000-1,400rpm, Optimum polish again with LC white pad on rotary buffer. LSP Optimum wax.

The wheels were polish by Mother's PowerBall.

Interior was cleaned with Deep Down 1:20 ratio.

Work started early in the morning around 7:40am overcast. First 2 pictures were wash and clay. Showed a lot of hologram.

After...... Pictures were taken around 1:30pm sunny (close up shoot).

Now the reflection part.......

Customer primary want to remove hologram and scratches. Before the job start, I told him 70% of the scratches will be removed.

Total solid work time from start to finish was 5 hours ( not include break time).

$190 + $10 tip

HOW DID I DO?

I wouldve moved up a grade or two in pad and not went straight for the finishing pad . Yellow pad + rotary = pretty agressive . You might've actually took all of the original swirls out and put your own in with the yellow pad .

IDK I think that OP might not have been enough for swirls like that...the ones that are left wont keep me from saying; huge improvement!

Sorry Bill D. I overlook

papi_jay. Tried to push the 3 steps polish but the guy didn't want to pay for it.

Deuce. The owner seems pretty happy of the result. However, if this is my car. I will add another polish with orange pad before the finishing pad.

Do you guys think if I work on higher rpm like (1700 instead of 1400rpm), those leftover scratches might be improve????

I only worked on 3 passes on each polish. Passing rate about 1.5" per second.

It looks like the white pad had a hard time removing the micro marring from the yellow pad.

It would be interesting to see what a white pad and the optimum compound would have done.

But that is still a huge improvement, good job :xyxthumbs

As already noted, HUGE improvment :) Yes there are still some halo scratches in the paint but then again Opass stated that the cars owner did not want to pay for a full polishing job.

I think an Opt green pad and then an Opt blue or black pad would of been a better duo OR after the yellow pad used a blue pad as the white is perhaps too fine to remove the yellow pad marring.

Also kudo's to you for being brave enough to take pics in the full sun like that  Some people would of parked it in the shade and taken some pics and we would all be floored as how it looked but you didn't go that route.

It has a very nice gloss to it :xyxthumbs

nice work..

you started at early in the morning, shouldn't you have finished a lot sooner using a rotary ?

psl car wash........Thanks for the feedback.

Tumbler...........During work, dealing with neighbors, gardeners, postman and owner, did postpone the due time. May be I should post a sign "DO NOT DISTURB" while buffing?
