Optimum Poli-Seal Question

The Rainmaker
Today, I used some Optimum Poli-Seal on the Montana and overall, I'm pretty happy with it. It seemed to do a good job prepping the paint for my Dura Gloss #105 and DG AW.
The question I had was the amount of product I used. It probably took at least 3, maybe 4 oz. of the Poli-Seal where I usually used an ounce or two with Klasse AIO or 4 Star UPC.
Am I using too much or does it just take more of the Poli-Seal? It seemed to work fine, it just took more than I was used to using in order to not work it dry.
I used the PC with a dampened Meg's Polishing pad. Spread it at 2, worked it at 5.

I never noticed using more of the PS over the Klasse. I will have to pay attention next time I use it.

I think Anthony had that same problem. I don't use any more than normal, so I don't quite know what is going on.

As is the usual case with me, it sounds like an operator problem. :)
The Poi-Seal probably is going to have a learning curve for me. One thing that I might have let influence me is the much thicker consistency of the Poli-Seal compared to the KAIO.
Since the results turned out good, I must have done something right.

One common user error is when the user wants to see it on the surface. OPS is basically residue- and traceless.

A little reinforcement for my operator error theory. I was definitely wanting to see some evidence of product on the paint since I'm not too big on dry buffing. I'm not really concerned about the amount of product used, I just want to use it properly.

Oh my Charles! 3-4oz of PS?

Yes, you used too much product my friend.

1-1.5 oz is more than enough on a mini-van via a PC application. :bigups

Charles,

From what I have read (haven't used the product myself) 2-4 pea sized drops on the pad wil do a full panel depending on its size.

One thing I might mention here is the fact that I was using it primarily as a polish.
I did need to remove some light swirling from the past winter. Snow and ice are not really very good for paint.
I used it with a polishing pad and worked each area quite a while. I did go over the hood with three passes, but most of the vehicle only required one pass.
I expect to use it on a silver 2002 Taurus next week and I should have a better idea. The Taurus will probably get Meg's #80 first, but I didn't think the van needed anything quite that abrasive.

I've only used Poli-Seal a couple times, but I also noticed that I seemed to use quite a bit more of the product if there were moderate defects to be removed. The product didn't seem to have a long "working time" before drying out, so I had to add more product to the pad to keep going. When using the product as a fast one-step for paint in very good condition, I used far less product. For me, longer working time required a larger quantity of Poli-Seal.
