Opti-Seal after a rain

CharlesW

The Rainmaker
Yesterday, I washed the Montana and as seems to happen quite often, I drove in a lot of rain today.
Interestingly enough, when I looked at the van this evening, it looked almost clean. Clean enough that most people in my neighborhood wouldn't think it needed to be washed.
It makes me think th Opti-Seal might have something to do with the dirt being washed off by the rain. The only other product I have used that I felt that might be happening was S100 Carnauba.
The Opti-Seal seemed to do just a little better.
Anyone else using OS notice this or is it just my imagination?

Does the lack of response mean no one else is using OptiSeal or that it is my imagination?

I've heard the lame excuses that comments about non-sponsor products aren't welcome, (which is a crock of crap:)), but OptiSeal is a product sold by the sponsors.
Was I the only one that bought it?

Charles

You might be the only one Charles! lol

I found that out with my ride also having a coat of P21S... My car was really dusty and full of pollen, now, after a day of rain, it looks fairely clean! lol

Maybe you should share some pics! ;)

Darn your right Charles, Opti-Seal is a sponsored product.:( I was really looking forward to banning you too.:dnaughty Oh well, maybe some other time. I've got my eye on you.:inspector:

Seriously, I do not frown on non-sponsored products being discussed here. Obviously we like sponsored products to be talked about better, but this is an open forum and as long as they are members not trying to promote a product for personal gain, and they are just sharing their experience with it, then I don't have a problem with it.

I know that and you know that, but for some reason a lot of people have the idea that discussing anything other than sponsors products is not welcome.

The Opti-Seal is not only a sponsored product, it seems to be a good product as well. It just seemed strange that there has been so little comment on it.
My last application was with a MF applicator as suggested by Bence. Whether it was the MF applicator or my improving technique, I didn't have any application problems at all. Went on easy and looked great.

Also, as you well know, I did purchase the product, (From the DC Store :)), and am not posting for personal gain. :D

Keep in mind this product is still pretty new and probably hasn't been used by many yet. I'm sure you will get some more feedback soon.

I used Opti-Seal on top of Pinnacle Liquid Souveran on my Jeep's door (posted in the contest) and it was a little tricky getting it thin (w/ time it'll get better) but this stuff is very very slick.

I gotta I got the same effect using WGDGPS. With all the constant rain the TS Barry brought i couldn't believe how clean the car looked, even after driving on soaked roads. Its been a week now and I still haven't washed my car.

Hmm...I have done it the other way around by putting Souveran on top of the sealent (in my case Blackfire)

Does it make a difference??? Meaning are there any bonding issues?

My thoughts are similar to yours and I haven't used the OS or any other sealant over a wax because of the question of the sealant bonding.
Since I usually add some LSP every 4 to 6 weeks, it probably would never be a factor, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

Contrary to past recommendations, quite a few people seem to feel that Optimum Opti-Seal and Zaino Clear Seal can be used over a wax, including a carnauba.
I'm not quite convinced just yet.

I've used the Opti-Seal over ClearKote Carnauba and it worked fine. To me it looked as if it sealed the look of the xxxx in and gave a bit more gloss and reflection.

It was my first time using OS and I wanted to see how it would do over a carnauba. I don't know how it does it but everything looks good. I'm not sure it looks any different but I can feel a difference. The water also beads up nicely. I use OS today on a whole F150 on freshly polished paint. I had a few spots that were too thick but so far I like this product.
