ONR on a really dirty card

Well, my car sat out while we were on vacation and it's rained on the dust since. My wifes car has been to Yellowstone and back. Was going to wash them traditionally but I've gotten so use to the ONR I just haven't wanted to get the hose, buckets, etc out.



Should I just go ahead and use the ONR? Any tips on using ONR on a dirtier than normal car?
 
if you are strictly using ONR, i would suggest to pretreat stubborn areas with APC and maybe rinse with spray bottle or water. then proceed with the ONR wash.

A gallon sprayer with ONR diluted to QD strength should do it. Just spray the panel down before plopping your media onto it.

That's exactly what I do and it works like a charm.



For really heavy/stubborn build up try this:



1) Spray the effected area with the ONR QD dilution

2) Soak a small MF with the ONR QD dilution

3) Lay the soaked MF on top of the targeted area if possible and let it sit for a few minutes
 
I think if the car is anything more than a bit dusty, the effort to pull the hose out is well worth it.. ONR just can't get all the dirt from the underside, door jambs, behind the lists and so on.. Not to speak about wheels, tires and wheel wells..

I have used alot of ONR, but never felt I got everything cleaned properly even if the car was only slightly dirty.. Don't get me wrong, still love this product for many things, and I use it on my boat all the time to get salt and bird drops off easily..
 
I use the single bucket method even on filthy cars, I just change out the bucket with new ONR solution about halfway through.

Hard to get a better endorsement than that. Scott has the pics to back it up, too. The shots of that pickup he maintained using nothing but ONR were what convinced me to try the stuff in the first place.

I'd have to agree with this, with the lone suggestion to possibly use the two bucket method, do very small areas at a time, and rinse out your mitt/sponge often. You shouldn't have a problem.
 
Here's what I did and was very pleased with the outcome.



QD strength sprayed one panel ahead and then a normal one bucket ONR wash. Didn't notice any marring. Not sure how much the pre-spraying helped but obviously didn't hurt.

On a very dirty car I would PW wash first. My idea of *very* might be different than yours. Up until 2 weeks ago I had 1 mile of nasty gravel road to drive down every day.



Now that I have a paved road, my cars just don't get to the :soscared: state. If there is "caked" dirt mud and bugs *I* would still PW. If it is normal road grime and dust then ONR would wok fine. I find that as the car gets dirtier it takes *me* exponentially longer to get it clean without me getting scarred of marring.



I do pre-treat the panel with a cheap spray bottle filled with ONR at wash strength. I use a GS and a MF to wash, I also use a rinse bucket.
