ONR Drying media

Ok, so i've seen a lot of discussions on what wash mitt/ towel/ sponge to use to wash with when using ONR. I have only seen a couple of instances on what you use to dry with it.

I have been using a Prima Monster Fluffy for the first pass and a Waffle Weave for the second/final pass. The big problem is that I'm having a hard time leaving in moisture on the paint for the second pass. I've started using a spray wax/ detailer (Hydro) for the second pass.

So, what do you use for the two drying passes when using ONR and how well does it work?

If I missed a thread like this already, I searched but there were so many and none seemed to be right on.

I use microfiber towels

Yeah, but I'm trying to narrow down which MF towels. Thanks though ;)

eurow mf for fist pass, spritz with fk425 the ww or eurow mf for second pass. sometimes skip the 425.

Sounds like what I've come up with. wascallyrabbit, how much moisture is left after you first pass?

I have been using a waffleweeve for the first pass and MF for second. I get the WW completely soaked and ring it out before I start, that way it leaves a little moisture behind to be wiped up with the MF.

PakShak waffle weave and final wipe with FK425 or Surf City Hot Rod detailer with a pakshak ultra soft mf.

I use a very tick (1") double ply drying MF sold by one of the traders here, for the first pass, then use a thin short pile MF for the final pass buffing off the QD/spray wax.

depends on the day and temp, is this a fresh towel (begining of panel) or have i been using it already finishing a panel). most of mf seem to work alot better is they are mist with something (damp to start). generally there not a lot of moisture left when i use fk425.

I just use two mf general purpose towels with a little longer nap from either target or auto detailing solutions.

thinking about trying it with the plusher quick detailing towels to see how it works.

I'm thinking (and tell me if I'm being crazy) that my fluffy MF's are doing too good a job as the surface is 95% dry after the first pass.

Why is that a problem? For me, it depends on if I am washing in the direct sun, or if the air outside is saturated. I would like for the paint to be 95% dry after the first drying pass, but usually it is not. I am using 20 by 40 inch MF towels. They are fairly thick, but probably less thick than the ones you are using.

Cptzippy, are you using distilled or de-ionized water to mix up your ONR?

I use two Eurow MF's to dry after ONR, but I'm not usually too concerned with getting it 100% dry, as I use de-ionizied or distilled water when I ONR, and even if I don't get it completely dry, it doesn't leave anything behind when it dries.

I use WW towels from Big Blue and Pakshak. Usually it takes one towel to dry the entire car, and I use another MF and hit it with a QD after each wash.

I haven't used ONR in a while since I don't wash my car all the time like I used to. Usually every 2-3 weeks and it would get a reg car wash.

I thought scottwax recommended that you should use the more plush mf towels when doing onr washes as the ww's are not as plush and with the plusher ones you are actually trapping the dirt inside the material or nap??

I assumed the ww ones were for a normal wash/dry routine, where you know that all that you are drying is just water, and not water with dirt sitting on top of it???

I use the Target orange MF towel for the first wipe, then a nice soft ww for the second wipe. Leaves the surface nice and dry. Typically, I'll have to wring out the MF towel once per car and the WW towel is just damp.
