ONR beading now with a hose! (video)

Regular customer took his Lincoln Mark LT off road so this was the first time I've used a hose on it after 2 years of no rinse. In fact, this is the first vehicle I've had to wash conventionally all year. Last time I waxed it was when it was new in November 2006 with Werkstat's Acrylic Jett. Freshened it up with Zaino Z8 in April of 2007. Otherwise it gets ONR washes once or twice a month. He has me out every two weeks but sometimes he has me wash his girlfriend's SUV.

Anyway, I doubt AJ and Z8 have hung around a year and a half yet the paint still sheets like crazy when you hit it with the hose. :)

Neat stuff and good video. Pretty impressive for ONR's sake.

Is there a reason you don't wax it more often? Customer preference?

The owner really only cares that it is clean. Keeps saying he will have me wax it but most of the time he isn't even there and the check is already made out. :nixweiss

Very cool. It actually sheets water just as good as any LSP's I've used and I prefer the sheeting over beading.

Does he leave the car unlocked in his driveway or you know the code to get into his garage?

Whatever ONR leaves on the paint seems to bond well with the LSP's I use because I have never noticed a durability problem. Has anyone had a bonding issue with ONR?

I know the code for the door key pad on the truck. I have so many garage, gate and key pad codes that I have to write them down to keep track. None of them are written down in a way you'd be able to tell what the numbers mean though.

Since the car is still sheeting and beading, does that mean the car is protected just as though you had waxed or sealed it regularly, Scott? ONR, the wax killer?

Question Scott - Great video. :xyxthumbs I noticed that the lower black portion of the driver's mirror wasn't beading/sheeting. Are these type of parts (textured) not reactive to ONR properties? Or was it just the video not showing it? :nixweiss

Hard to convince a few of my customers they need there vehicles waxed since they still bead so well. However, I don't think the polymers in ONR replace waxes or sealants as they appear to offer a thicker physical barrier than ONR.

wannafbody-yeah, for like the 8 millionth time, I agree. I no longer use vehicles washed regularly with ONR to test durability.

David-textured material tends to hold onto water longer than a smooth surface so I really haven't drawn any conclusions as to whether the slower sheeting on textured plastics is due to ONR being less effective adding some protection to them or simply the physical differences vs painted surfaces.

Cool video.

I always see you talk about ONR , but why when you do your detailing so you not use OCW as a LSP ? I know you like optimum products .

I mostly use Carnauba Moose or Opti-Seal. I do use OCW more as an in between wax (even though durability is decent enough) and on a black Z06 the owner has me wash and wax every two weeks. Gets a real sick, deep look once you've applied it several times. I also have been playing around lately with Wolfgang Fuzion (thanks again Toto!) and a couple Migliore waxes. I have yet to find the perfect wax or sealant that beats everything else on all colors so you will see me use a wide variety of LSPs.
