ONR and Opticlean Question

DK is right, AIO really can't be layered since it does have some abrasive properties. It is a pretty good 1 step product.

I was under the impression a while back that Klasse AIO can be layered to a point. The first coat will give the surface more of a cleaning (use medium pressure), then the next coat with light pressure will clean off a percentage of the previous coat but this time lay more sealant down.

Now I get the economy if someone just wants to use Klasse AIO. Apply two coats in one day, then wait for the Klasse to cure and get stronger. Then the two other coats a few days after the first two coats will remove even a lesser percentage of the previous work and lay down even more sealant.

Like a poor man's SG......

I am going to apply 2 coats of AIO, and then let them "cure" 24 hours. Then I will apply and remove another coat of KLASSE using very light pressure. If it is, in fact layering, than I shouldn't see any BLACK on the applicator or towel when applying or removing....right?? ,....since the claim is that the AIO is a barrier between the new coat of AIO and the paint....

I will take pics of my results...

sounds like a good test, remember to recall whether you are working the AIO in or applying it like SG (if in fact you do both). Like Jason said, poor man's SG :)

I am getting an order together and I am just about out of ONR. I was planning to purchase the ONR again when I was Opti Clean listed on their site and I am not sure if I should buy that. I use the ONR when my car is not too dirty or its too cold for a hose and I can mix it in a bucket, wipe with a mitt and dry. I also use it for clay lube and a spray and wipe if the car is slightly dusty. I also use it for Bird Bomb removal. I have heard that ONR is also used as a detail spray but to date I have not tried it as I have a bunch to use up first!

So, do I need both or just ONR and mix accordingly or get Opti Clean 4:1 con and mix myself.

Confused????

Thanks all.

Opti-Clean is more of an all purpose product. You can use it on the interiors, and the exterior. On the exterior, it is used more as a waterless wash, where as ONR is a rinceless wash. Be careful with a waterless wash. It is not intended for dirty cars. It is good for removing light dust, but for a dirty car, I wouldn't use it.

That being said, I would like to try the Opti-Clean. I have heard many good things about it, and I happen to be a big fan of all things Optimum.

But for exterior cleaning, I will stick to ONR. It is great for cold weather cleaning, doing a quick wash after polishing, clay lube, QD, wheels, ect.

ONR IMHO, is the one product that every detailer should have.

SOLD..Just made my decision for me! Thanks as always for your willingness to help clear things up for me.

I have both and use both. I don't prefer one over the other because I use them for different things. ONR is invaluable but OOC is very practical. Door iambs and touch ups are a breeze with OOC with no drips and it stays in my glove box for bird bombs and dash dusting on the go.

Also don;t forget to use your "TID10" code for 10% off on PAC's goodies!

P.S. Welcome to TID Curtis!

Where do I go to find out what ONR, OOC, etc. are?
Newbe question.

ONR is a rinseless wash and OOC is a waterless wash. OOC has more lubricants and polymers than ONR therefore can be used as a waterless wash. Never use ONR or OOC on a really dirty car. IMO OOC leaves a glossier finish than ONR. I have both and use both...they are great product. For cost you can't beat Ultima for a waterless wash.
