my local costco/price club has zymol auto wash, blue liquid for 6.79 a gallon!

is it any good? at this price, i can't believe it would be but perhaps someone could prove otherwise????

I used it when I was using the Zymol carbon wax. Good suds and lubes well, and did help maintain a decent shine on the carnuba. :up I haven't used it since I switched to BF protectant. Been using the BF shampoo ever since.

perfectly good product, ridiculously expensive. use it up, then buy Meguiar's Gold Class car wash. Excellent suds, easy rinse, mild on wax, and very reasonable. Save your $$ for the stuff that really counts.

I don't believe that price... I'm looking at their Website and I see it for $45 for a 16 oz!!!!

EDIT: Oh wait, I found the blue wash. It's cheaper, but still pretty expensive. It says it's for SUVs! Huh?
Zymol Auto Wash

chuck,

i kid you not.

and costco isn't the type of place to offer an auto shampoo for 45 bucks. no one there would buy it.

it was blue liquid in a gallon bottle. 6 bucks and change...

it was 'auto shampoo' i beleive from zymol.

it's zymol because right next to it was a dual pack of cleaner wax from zymol.

Guys-

I bought the dual Zymol cleaner paste for a friend - only to find out later that Zymol markets products differently - some to low end retail locations (like Costco, Walmart) and others to enthusiasts.

There have been postings on the net that the consistency of the cheaper products was different, and mentions that Turtle Wax, who bought out Zymol, provide the lower end formulations. The way to check, if I remember correctly - the paste wax made in the US was the low end retail stuff, while the stuff made in Germany was the real Zymol.

Dunno if there's any substance to that - but that's what I heard. Nonetheless - if the name is the same as something that gets sold at a much higher price, for $6.79 a gallon, I'd give it a shot.

Zymol has 2 car washes. One made under licence by Turtle, the other a premium product made by Zymol which is much more expensive.

Turtle do make several Zymol products under licence, including:

-auto wash

-wheel brite cleaning kit

-cleaner wax

-leather care kit

-polish (forgot its name)

-HD Cleanse

-and one or two others

The products made by Turtle under licence have Turtle's address in Chicago.

Yes, this is not Zymol Bathe or any other Zymol product. It is Zymol Auto Wash, is a greenish bluish color, and smells like bananas. It makes the wash water a slight bluish color that can only be seen by looking down into the bucket.

I posted a little bit about it a month or so ago when I found it at my local Costco (Carmel Mountain Ranch, San Diego) for the same $6.79.

I have used it a couple of times on different cars and noted only a couple of things so far:

YUMMY banana-ish smell, advertised as having banana oils in it.

DOES NOT feel as lubricative as Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo.

-Am still figuring out cleaning / sud life vs the Meguiar's product. The suds are of a different type than the Meguiar's, but I haven't washed a car in a couple of weeks () so I'll have to do a refresher this weekend.

I had fine results mixing this with MGC . . . I recommend trying that. It just gave me a little more peace of mind that there was good lubricative action going on there.

ALSO: Check out your local Pep Boys for a sale! WOW I got Final Inspection for $2.80 a 16 oz bottle! Not bad, not bad at all. I bought the 3 bottles they had left. They had lots of things on sale, will have to check the other local Pep Boys for more sales.

Thanks for explaining everything Puter.

And thanks for the info on Pep Boys! I'm gonna have to check and see if our Pep Boys is having that deal. I'm almost out of FI.

Thanks, Puter!:xyxthumbs

Sure, no problem Chuck! Glad it went to use. I am unsure of if the widespread markdowns (sorry, misspoke earlier, not an overall sale) on many detailing products at the Pep Boys I went to was even at other San Diego locations. I will check at least 1 more place tomorrow and report back.

thanks for the heads up puterbum about FI.

i'll visit my pep tomorrow.

and thanks chuck for the concern.

i use gold class,p21s and EF wash when it gets crappy outside (seems to get salt stains off quickly)

just thought i'd mention the zymol deal.

Roadk-

No - thanks for keeping us updated - it could've been a find at that price. For $2.20 more, though, I'll stick with Gold Class (gallon size at Target).

You never know what Costco will provide as the next deal :)

Hey JohnN,

Why is the Zymol wash not a find? I still consider it a find, even if I just add a little bit of it to the bucket to give some different cleaning agents and a nice scent along with the different suds, it's a nice cheap scent for the bucket. Makes washing more enjoyable, I'd recommend it just for that purpose!

I'm pretty sure it would have different cleaning agents than the MGC, so it cant hurt to mix a bit in.

Being a Zymol user, I have the good stuff and th cheap stuff. Good for me, cheap for friends. After this discussion I started looking at my products, and want the autopian opinion.

OK, note that it has the same telephone number and the Autowash has a CT address.

No number, different address. I wonder what the deal is, who makes the Auto Wash?

The number on the HD and AW is the same as their website.
I will email them later and see if I can get a answer, if I do, I will let you know.

Justin-

I'm not that pragmatic - I don't like to mix different washing agents together, since I don't know what went into the formulations and how they'll interact.

Most likely - there'll be no problem. I don't think it's necessarily not a find - just that for another $2, I'd rather just go with Meguiar's - that's my car wash preference.

bjwebster - Looks like the there's two companys with similar names marketing the zymol lines. Both "cheap" products are made by Zymol Enterprises, Inc. and the Expensive HD Cleanse is made by Zymol Technologies, LLC.

<em class='bbc'>Enterprises[/i] with TW, <em class='bbc'>Technologies [/i] without? :nixweiss

i use Zymol auto wash 16 ounce, the inexpensive blue bottle and I've had excellent results with it.

I paid $6.00 for it so getting the gallon size at the same price is well you know.

suds like crazy and smells great.
