On Board Computer

Just One More Coat
AS most of you know I brought a Nissian Murano recently. I love the ride and the preformance a lot and the gas milage is great thank God at 225 a gallon here in CA.

Anyway the on board computer screen is the heardset thing that I have ever seen to keep clean. I wipe it down with Stoners IG and then buff, an hour later its got a smoke flim again. I resided to carrying a MY towel in the console.

Any ideas about this

Do you think that it could be the surrounding vinyl gassing off onto it? Maybe it will calm down in the winter....?

I was thinking the same but the window are fine, its just odd. You can sit there and watch it fog up almost. It drives me crazy

I dont have the onboard computer but I do have a hard time with the windshield on all 4 of our Nissan.

Just a thought. Could the problem be with the product you are using?
Maybe the Stoner's IG isn't compatible with the computer screen.
You might try a different window cleaning product. Maybe even plain water.
The thing that I have the best luck with for windows is a few, (2 or 3), drops of Dawn in about 16 to 20 oz. of water. Use it like any window cleaner. You might be surprised.

My navigation system screen seems to get smudged/fogged up quite easily too. I've started using Poorboy's new glass towel to do quick wipe offs.

Edit: I use a drop or two of Spray & Wipe on the towel.

:wait ..... eeek

guys wait up a second here .... you have to remember all of these products that we use are not "perfect" for everything..

If you have an on board computer you shouldn't be using any products on the screen itself!!!!!! :wait

1. On LCD screens have a natural oil to them when this oil is removed it can cause pre-mature crystilization(sp) which is plain and simple not good!

2. If you find it absolutly necessary to clean your lcd monitor then here is what I recomend!

Recommendations For Cleaning LCD Panel Monitors

Improper cleaning methods may cause damage to the LCD Panel.
These are examples of cleaners that can damage your LCD Panel;
Glass Cleaner/Windex
Furniture Polish
Solvents
Detergents
Acceptable Cleaning Solutions: · Room Temperature Water · Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
The LCD Panel should be cleaned using only a soft cotton cloth and a minimum of cleaning solution. Using a paper towel, tissue, or other paper type product may cause scratches to the LCD. After applying an acceptable cleaning solution to a cotton cloth, gently & carefully with minimum pressure wipe the LCD. It is important to only wipe in one direction, either vertically or horizontally. Never wipe the LCD panel in a circular motion. You should never spray any cleaning solution directly on the LCD panel itself.

2. If you need something for deeper cleaning go to your local computer store and pick up some of this stuff http://www.kensington.com/html/1081.html

there are other products on the market for LCD screens as well just do some searches on "cleaning LCD monitors"

What has worked the best is a eye glass towel. I had a few of them laying around wiped the screen down and it stay smudge free. Thanks for all teh help but this looks to be the fix!

I think endust for electronics makes a small travel size spray pump bottle that is specifically for electronics and computer screens. Check Wal-Mart.

Most car LCD panels have a cover on them (glass or plastic) - not like my big ole 21 " DELL bad boy :) -

True while some do .... there are still some that do not! I know I a have an aftermarket Alpine in dash navigation/DVD, ect that is in fact exactly the same as a regular computer screen!

After a week or so the eye glass towel thing is the best. I have not had any smudges on the screen to speak of.

Thanks to all for the help!
