Okay I have a Black 04 WRX... Well it's black with gold flake. Anyhow I was wondering what would be the best things/products to use to keep the paint looking better than showroom? I'm trying to achieve the ultimate wet look... I was next to a MB the other day and their black just seems so deep and wet. So far the steps that I've been doing is this.

Wash - Meg's gold class shampoo

Clay - meg's quick clay

pre-wax - meg's deep crystal paint cleaner

polish - meg's #7 show car glaze

wax - Zbest car wax.

Is there anything I'm missing? Also I'm going to be picking up my PC hopefully sometime this week.. I also have some swirl marks from when I took my car to the car wash ( was lazy ) The swirl marks are on the hood and roof of my car. On the roof I have some hard water spots that I can't seem to get out... Again thanks for your advice guys... this site is just what I've been looking for.

If it's Z-Best you have, the chemical cleaners it contains may remove some or all of the Meg's #7. To bring out the gold flake in the paint and add depth, you may want to use Natty's or Meg's #16 instead of the Z-best. Just my .02 cents...

For the swirl marks, Meg's #9 SMR. Just make sure the swirls and water spots are out (or at least to your satisfaction) before you go to #7.

I'd stick with one of Meg's products for a wax or sealant. Meg's products work very well together.

I love the guy's expression in one of the photos on the Z-best website. Seriously, when is your care ever going to need to resist fire, i don't make a habit of starting fires on my hood.

You could also add to your list Menzerna Final Polish. It worked great on my car. Removed all of the swirls with no problem. #9 didnt cut it for me when I had the black WRX. Also, NXT or #26 brought those flakes alive. #16 should last longer and look even beter from what Ive heard.

right on thanks guys I'll try that when I get my PC... I've been just trying different products to see what will give me the best results. But then again that can be very costly... thanks again, my suby really appriciates it.

Also, I wouldn't use Meg's #7 on Subie b/c paint. If you really want to use an non-abrasive polish before the wax, I'd use their #3/#5/#81 instead. I've heard that the clear that's over Subaru *black* is softer than the clear that was on my *silver* WRX, but on mine, it took something stronger than Meg's #9 to remove marring. I usually used 3M PI-III MG (pn 05397),which works well by hand, PC, or rotary.

But if you *really* want the flakes to "pop", I'd use 1Z polishes topped with 4-Star UPP. These are *very* user-friendly when used by hand (or PC or rotary).
