OK to wash MF's in Woolite?

Well...is it? I can't see any mention of fabric softeners. I was going to mix it up and use it as an interior cleaner, but I really can't be bothered as #39 and APC are doing such a good job anyway.

I don't see a problem with it, though if you wash a lot of them, it could get expensive. I have used Woolite before, and had no problems.

I had a bottle of Purex "Free and Clear" on my shelf near the washer. It is just a basic liquid laundry detergent that does not have any fragrance or dyes. I tried it one day on a load of MF, and was very happy with the results. Since it is less expensive than the "name" laundry products, it is nice to know that it won't cost me a bunch to wash my ever-increasing stash of MF towels.

I still use Sonus Der Wunder Wasche for PC pads and LSP applicators. Since there is more of a concentreation of "stuff" on those items, Wunder Wasche seems to work fine. Of course, those get done in a bucket or a sink.

A sink? You can tell I'm not married!

I use Woolite every time to clean my Excel MFs. The cheaper ones just get regular detergent.

I also have a couple bottles of Pinnacle Micro-Rejuvenator that I use with the Excel MFs about every 3 washes.

Yeah no problems here use it to hand wash my best MF's. Others get chucked in the washing machine with normal detergent.

I'm the odd man out here. MF's are tough towels and can withstand regular detergent and hot water.

Woolite is used for delicate cleaning of wools, silk, etc... clothing. Plus Woolite is very concentrated and continues to sud even when I think it's all gone despite using a little bit.

MF's are lodged with oils, waxes, dirt, silicones, chemicals etc... and I feel they need a stronger cleaner.

I use an APC (Simple Green) and hot water (with vinegar and extra rinse) to clean all my MF's including the expensive ones. Three years to date, they are fluffy, plush and clean as ever!

Just my 2 cents.

Spilchy, you've inspired me to run another experiment. I'm going to wash 8 MFs this week: 2 with Pinnacle Micro-Rejuvenator, 2 with APC/water, 2 with Purex laundry detergent, and 2 with Woolite. I'll soak them for an equal amount of time, and wash/rinse them equally.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm glad I'm inspiring! Are the MF's equally dirty for each batch?

Again, I use hot water with my APC.

Hmm, I guess I'll have to use 8 MFs to QEW my car or something. Or QD maybe. Or 8 to remove the wax.

Whatever...I'll find some step that I can use 8 MFs for. Even though it will be completely unnecessary.

Another experiment?? Would you just change your major over to Engineering already? We need guys like you to put a man on Mars, or get GM caught up on that self-healing paint and stuff.

I usually just throw them in with regular detergent on a hot wash. My question really stemmed from having a bottle of Woolite and no uses for it. I don't have any woolen clothes myself, and I can't be bothered to use it as an interior cleaner. So rather than just throw it away, I thought I'd wash my MF's with it, but just wanted to check there weren't any hidden softnners or anything.

Once it's gone, I won't be getting any more.

haha right when I typed that post I was wondering how long it would take you to notice my intention to experiment again!

Yeah, you can use 8 MF's to clean your filthy door jambs! :rofl

My filthy door jambs? That wouldn't be fair, because some sections are dirtier than others, and each towel would have differing amounts of dirt/salt in them. :)

Besides, my door jambs were just cleaned on Saturday. They aren't very dirty. Just a little salt spray from the last few days.

Oh, ok, I understand. Yeah, Woolite is nothing special to me. Never understood using it the interior of a car, but whatever works for some people. Woolite for sure won't make a dent in the Mercedes wagon you're working on!

You can use Woolite in cold water for washing any of your delicate clothes. Maybe something like a nice shirt or pants that need just a little cleaning without fear of the color running or bleaching out. I do that to save money instead of sending them out to be cleaned. :idea Not to get X rated, but you can give it to your mom or girlfriend to use on lingerie :o Very common use for it.
