Off to college

New Normal
Well since my recent battle with cancer and subsequent retirement from the construction industry I have decided to go back to college and see if I can keep up with the rest of the college graduates in this house and also be a role model to my youngest son.

My wife has attained her dream of a doctorate and the daughter is going to graduate in December. The oldest boy is the smartest kid in his class so i know that he will be able handle the strains of acedamia. It just seems right to me to see if the old fart can attain a sheepskin as well.

My wife is going with me since she is the ultimate guide to going to school. I am leaving in just a few minutes to sign up for my first set of classes.

Well congrats and good luck. I am trying to wrap up an MBA myself, and while it is time consuming, I think (or at least hope) the rewards will be worth it. You got any plans on a field of study??
 
Good luck...its a big step but in the end you will feel great about doing it.

Maybe they have a detailing 101...:D

I have a great idea for some classes. How about creative writing coupled with e-commerce and web design. Atleast that's what I should be signing up for.:D
 
Thanks everyone! Am sitting in room full of potential students. It is a very long line. Thanks to my wife i am able to be mobile and still be on line.

I plan to start slow this semester. No more than three classes. Ireally like towrite so there will be compostion class and math class to be scheduled for sure. If i make it thru the math class iwill go full time next semester.

Everything is subject to change but at this time i am leaning towards a teaching degree. Maybe i could get job as atruck driving instructor.
 
That's awesome man. It takes a lot of dedication to get back into school. Let us know what you signed up for.
 
Since this was the last day to enroll the line was extremely long. had to wait three and a half hours to see a guidance counselor. Once there it wazs a five minute ordeal. Because it has been so long since attending school I need to take some tests in order to test out without the need to take a bunch of remedial classes(which do nothing as far as credits go but adds 1500 dollars to the college bill)of which I am not really interested but am forced to do it because our Texas legislators passed laws to squeeze more money out of me. So the first day got my dander up. (note to self....calm down). I am signed up for Composition 101 and remedial math labs. Hopefully at the end of the semester I can test out of the math labs and save some money.

this is not the way I wanted to feel as a college boy.:wall:surrender:crazy::crazy2::(:mad::surrender
 
Well either way good for you...I think if I went back to college I would have to tell the wife I need to date some college chick, not that I have much to offer, since I am considerably older then them, and have put on some wieght...although I could show them my huge 401K account...maybe that would work...:D

There was only one place I have ever ben that money impressed the women. I do not go there any longer. LOL!!

You're not going to do the Rodney Dangerfield thing are you and join the swim team just so you can go off the high dive.

looking forward to it :crazy: :D i cant wait till i'm done with skewl i guess when you get more mature you realize it will help you a lot but until then i :surrender
