Hey guys/gals

I managed to spill black coffee on the alcantara in my car. I wiped everything up with a damp cloth and there is mo staining. However, I can't get rid of the coffee smell. Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Melissa

Melissa:

One question, how long did the stain sit before you cleaned it up?? If it's been there for more than 2 or 3 weeks and it still smells, chances are the "stain" is imbedded in the cushion/foam of the seat (assuming this spill is on a seat area!). A hot water extractor may help to alieviate this, as a deep-cleaning may be needed rather than just a surface wash of the alcantara fabric. One thing you DON'T want to do is try and over-saturate or flood the stain area as this may cause the stain to be spread through-out the cushion foam.

I've tried ODORCIDE from Thornell Corporation (www.ordorcide.com) that I found on this forum and it's more for pet/organic smells (I guess coffee is "organic"!). Let's put it this way, if homicide clean-up crews use as the ONLY odor-neautralizing chemical that works for them, it will probably work on your coffee stain smell. The smell is kind of minty and it is pleasant without being over-powering when used as directed.
