Oakes - Detailed: 2010 Mustang GT - Show Prep

This is a full detail of a 2010 Mustang GT in Grabber Blue. The vehicle had never been touched in regards to the paint/protection and has mostly sat outside for the past few months. The bright paint is extremely difficult to capture the spider webbing defects that were taken care of as seen in the sunlight reflection photos. I was asked to do this car in preparation for a car show this Sunday as well as a 550+ hp 2007 Mustang GT that was dropped off when the 2010 GT was picked up tonight. With that said, I'm gettin back to work!

Process:

Full vehicle rinse and degrease

Wash - APC used on wheels

Full clay bar using HydroGloss

Menzerna Final Polish II - Green pad

Menzerna 203 Power Finish on Orange pad on flats

Optimum Poli Seal - cured for 4 hours

Collinite's No. 845 Insulator wax

Rewash - Pure Carnuaba spray wax

Yeah, those wheels are lame. I like the new front and rear ends. I can also see how that color hides swirls easily and shows water spots easily, but I can tell you corrected everything out.

Fun looking detail!

add some black racing stripes and a shaker hood and you have the baddest new stang out there for apperance wise I love that color. I wish they would bring back all the hugger colors stock again..

Thanks guys! Agreed on the wheels, but the owner also owns a Mustang tuning/performance shop. The car won't be stock for long, nor will the wheels, I just pulled in their 07 GT pushing around 600hp to the wheels iirc. Thing is a beast!

Nice job! So the original "retro" Mustang was based on what, a '68 fastback, this one looks like it's taking its styling cues from a '70 Boss...so eventually the "new" mustang will look like a '78 Mustang II??

I have to agree with Jake - I was viewing the pics thinking, "The wheels suck" - especially for a GT! The rest of the car, however, looks great! That must have been a fun color to play on!?

Good work!

Thank you, it was and wasn't a fun color to work on, the paint is a tad on the softer side but still semi hard. At the same time is hides A LOT so I had to repeatedly go over and make sure I got everything out! Had the paint been in worse condition I feel like this detail would NOT have been fun in the correction aspect.

Cars looks sexy. You did a great job! The wheels are not that bad. Geez people.

I am thrilled about Ford bringing that color back. I might consider selling the sonic blue 03 for a 2011 with the 400hp 5.0

It looks like they are going to be making retro versions of all the mustangs. Next will be the 1970-73. Cant wait:getdown A retro fox-body would be awesome too.

LoL... don't count on that.
