NXT Spray wax vs Meg's Final Detail (FP)

Has anyone done a comparison of these two products after applying and allowing NXT to cure. I have used the FD over cured NXT on black and it looks great and is very compatible. I plan on picking some NXT Spray Wax for my own personal testing but I am interested in others experiences.

:wavey

I am not sure how you would compare them. NXT Spray Wax is NOT a quick detailer like FD is. It is a booster like Meguiars Quik Wax meant to add additional protection as needed.

From the label on the back:

"Directions: SHAKE WELL, Mist Meguiars NXT Spray Wax directly onto cool, washed surface (sprayer should be 8-12 inches from the surface). Spread evenly over a portion of the car using a clean, soft, 100% cotton towel or foam applicator. Allow time for wax to haze and then buff off with a seperate 100% cotton, terry cloth towel or Ultimate Wipe microfiber."

I am questioning the appearance differences, gloss enhancements or loss of such, depth addition, etc, etc.

Maybe I should have been more expicit with my initial query.

NXT + FD - definite gloss and depth enhancement

NXT + NXT Spray Wax ????

Please compare results.

New England Patriots #1 again :bow :bow :bounce

Can't comment there, haven't used FD on NXT and I am out of it at the moment. I am curious though why Meguiars chose to release a booster rather than a quick detailer for the NXT line. If NXT Tech Wax is indeed the longest lasting product Meguiars has made to date why do we need a booster :nixweiss Curious minds want to know :D

Just a guess, but it sounds like it would be similar to NXT + Second coat of NXT. It sounds like it is just a slightly easier to apply version of NXT. But I'm just speculating. I never really understood spray waxes... :nixweiss

I dont get spray waxes either, it isnt just as easy to put another coat of wax on? I mean take NXT for example, you put the product on a pad, wipe it on, wait 15 mins, wipe off.

then nxt spray wax, you put product on pad, wipe on, wait for haze, wipe off. Theres no real benefit save maybe 5 mins. for the product drying time. Myself i would much rather have a 'real' coat of whatever wax/sealant product on then just the spray wax.

Sometimes the spray version of a product has a gloss/depth enhancing property that the solid version does not possess.

I am digging from my experience with Zaino where it's Z6 has polymers that actually enhances the Z2/5 appearance.

Yes, Z6 is classified as a QD and NXT spray is called a "wax booster" but I am seeking knowledge about appearance changes between just NXT, FD, and NXT spray wax. :wavey

Yeah, I know it didn't answer your question... ;)

You think Z6 alters the Zaino look? It just seemed to me to make it very shiny again. I think a fresh coat of Zaino after a wash would have a similar effect, but Z6 is much quicker to apply (plus it helps with water spotting and such). Definitely more a QD than a quick wax. But I don't have that much experience with it.

I remember reading about the Z system and that using the Z6 before each coat of Z2/5 "opens" the matrix of the Z polymers temporarily allowing the polymer matrix of the new coat to "lock into" the polymers of the previous coat.

Perhaps the NXT SW is like this, or perhaps it's a slightly different version of the Tech Wax that when used removes micro impurities from the surface and deposits a small amount of the polymers used in the TW onto the surface thus "boosting" the wax level closer to the level it was when first applied.

OR perhaps I'm completely full of it and my guess is totally off :nixweiss

Hi Bob,

Yes, but only my subjective ( maybe wishful) observation. I got better results ( gloss / depth enhancement via optically clearing / cleaning surface when I applied Z6 after each cured coat.

I, like yourself, am a wax/sealant person after most washing ( until I tried FD :o ) for best results.

I did pick up a bottle of NXT Spray Wax ($6.39 @ Advance Auto) today. Like NXT Wax, very easy to apply, hazes in 5-10 minutes, wipes on and off easier then P21S and leaves a NXT Wax type appearance and physical properties ( rich pigment augmentation, high gloss/reflectivity, no greasy residual, no streaking, no dust, and smear resistant).

I believe this is a "sleeper" product that will really take-off. JMO

Like what Raymond said in a past thread about wax as you dry, if you use a 4:1 dilute ratio it can be use as a QD. Does that mean you can do the same with spray wax :D??

The reason why i suggested diluting Wax As You Dry is because it is supposed to be used on wet cars. Diluting Wax As You Dry and using it on a dry car would simulate spraying it on a wet car.

Since NXT spray wax is meant to be used at its provided concentration on a dry car, I think diluting it would deteriorate its performance.

Actually if you read the back of the bottle NXT Spray Wax CAN be applied to a wet car. They even kind of suggest you can use it as a wash and wax as you dry product without actually using those terms.
