Yeah it came out on election night, thats when they started talking about it on MOL.

I'm not sure its accessible to the general public until december or janurary though.
(the same applies to all other megs products they unveiled)

i just went to meguiars.com and clicked on the new products and its says available online in jan 2005

Here is the scooop.......MEGS will have then new products for sale on a call in basis by the end of DEC.they will be on there internet website in Jan, and they will be in the stores in late March.this is what I was told by there rep Thursday morning

A synthetic paste wax...thats a first! I'm pretty excited to see what it can do, especially in the way of durability. We all know how carnauba paste waxes contain more carnauba than liquid versions and are therefore more durable. I would think we would see the same effect with synthetics. I just wonder if they had to load it up with harsh chemicals to make this possible...I guess well c...

I dno't know about the extended durability aspect of a paste. I think it's a common misconception. I think the vast majority of great paste waxes such s Souvean, P21S, S100, Natty Wax, etc all have a 2-6 week durability. I thikn environment is more of a factor on a waxes durability than the actual carnauba content.

I am pretty sure that I read that the new NXT paste wax is VOC compliant for 2005. Seems as though it can't be too harsh.

I personally can't wait to try it.

scott: I don't have access to the email from Collinite (I'm at work) but I'm pretty sure they said to expect greater durability from #476s (paste) than #845 (liquid), perhaps as much as 2 months.

Of course, the harshness of the environment will play a huge role in this equation but it seems there is more carnauba per volume in paste form than in liquid form because whatever substances are used to create the liquid form are taking up space in the container.

i would be guessing that paste wax vs liquid wax would have greater durability based on just the fact that the makeup of pastewax is more solid than liquid, and thicker.

Actually, there are other synthetic pastes. Nu-Finish comes to mind. I think Turtle Wax's Finish 2001 is carnauba free. (has Urethane, though!)

From what I've been reading over the last while, it seems that many "carnauba" waxes have only a very little in the formula so that they can say it's got carnauba-for those that have been told carnauba wax is the best. With this in mind, I would think that it wouldn't be much of a stretch for some of these companies to make aa non-carnauba paste. Of course, the bit of carnauba may give the paste a better look. :dunno
