Guess who's back! :scared
ok, so yesterday I came across the new NXT and just had to try it out, so I bought the tech wax and the spray wax to check out. So far, I'm not overly impressed.
I ran the blazer through a touchless wash/blow dry tunnel, and got it home clean and dry. I used final inspection to make sure everything was cleaned off the hood. As it hasn't had any fresh product on it since the 3 coats of Z5 I had applied before winter started some 2-3 months ago, the surface wasn't all that slick, and had some degree of micro-marring from the salt and whatnot (all hazards of a Michigan Winter.)
Tech Wax
I applied the NXT to the hood (thusfar only the hood has NXT on it) and didn't notice much darkening at all like I was expecting. It did do a decent job of hiding the micro-marring though. The slickness was what I would classify as "okay," but nothing special as far as I was concerned. Personally, I think Zaino does a better job of darkening/deepening the color. The lack of wetness was about the same as I'd expect with any polymer sealant, which wasn't much. Zaino is notably slicker (to me atleast) than NXT when freshly applied. Durability will be the big factor... if NXT does a decent job, then I may play around with topping it with S100 (as I do with Zaino already) to get the "look" I'm going for.
Spray Wax
The NXT Spray Wax is about the most gimicky, worthless stuff I've ever seen. As per the directions, I shook it up well, and dispersed one spritz onto the middle of the hood. I proceded to spread and buff it into the hood, leaving behind significant hazing and streaks. I couldn't get them to go away with just buffing, and so I went over the hood again with Final Inspection. No luck. Finally, I ended up going back over the hood with the applicator I had used for the Tech Wax, and re-buffing that off... which did the trick.
However, if this is how the product performs, I see no point in using it; I was expecting a product closer to QuikWAX, which I've gotten good results from in the past. This product was nothing like it. I'm not impressed.
So, overall initially, I feel like I wasted $20-some bucks on this stuff; I'll reserve complete judgement until spring when I do a full review and go over the whole truck with DACP and NXT, and get the chance to spend a good ammount of time with it.
